Energizer XPal Powerpack for Mobile Phones

One of my recurring problems with carrying smartphones is that their batteries drain up pretty quickly, especially that it’s connected to the net most of the time. So portable powerpacks like these from Energizer are very handy and useful.

This one, I bought for around Php900 at the PC Show.

It’s an Energizer Li-Po powerpack that’s rated at 2000mAh and chargers practically any mobile phone. There have been a lot of these around for some time now but I wanted to try Energizer since it looks more portable and supports almost all charging ports of mobile phones (I just needed the microUSB port though).

This other one is a smaller version and was given for free with a purchase of a new phone (I got an HTC Desire). It didn’t say the power rating but it indicated 1.5 hours of talk time so I’m guessing around 500mAh.

It plugs in via microUSB and also charges via the same. The shape is a little odd though since there’s no cable extension and plugs in directly into the hub.

Also saw an Energizer Solar-powered battery charger but the rating was a bit low and the device was still bulky (selling for around Php5k). The ones I got are perfect to bring around just in case I need quick recharge.

Anybody out there using similar devices for their mobile phones?

    Where is Digital Walker?

  7. Reggie says:

by the way, Digital Walker is selling the Energizer XPAL power packs locally.

  8. Reggie says:

i do. i also use the XP2000 but the XP18000 is my best friend. it’s quite big but it charges my laptop, phones and other gadgets. saves me from bringing all sorts of chargers wherever i go especially when i’m traveling.

  9. Arvee says:

well, it’s much more easier to plug this thing onto your device rather than opening your device’s battery cover, pull your Battery A, put your Battery B, turn on the phone. Plus, you can’t do that with an iProduct (given that the battery included with them are embedded). Extra battery will cost you about the same price, but without the extra convenience.

And remember, you can’t bring your car, your power outlet or a cheap hotel with you all the time.

  10. Herce says:

I agree with manong, that is just plain dumb paul e. That would be a reason to not buy an iPhone, but my old HTC Touch Pro lasted 2 days without charge and heavy music and wifi use with an extended battery that fit in the original battery slot (no bulk added to phone at all).

I think you just either can’t afford the high end phones or you don’t like mobile phones. Both reasons are fine, but be honest and say that instead of such a ridiculous statement.

  11. manong says:

why not buy an extra battery? or a car adapter? or bring a charger?

if you can afford and bring along that many gadgets, i’m sure you have a least a cheap 2nd-hand car or stay in a cheap hotel.

  12. paul e. says:

one main reason i’m not jumping into the smartphone bandwagon – crappy battery life. and the need to spend for additional gadgets like these just to make sure your phone won’t die on you.

  13. Herce says:

I’ve been using a Proporta Turbo charger 3400mah and I like it a lot. In the end these are all kind of similar. Though energizer stuff has dropped in quality a ton over the years.

The turbocharger is 3400mah and this is only 2000, which is a big difference. I got the turbocharger in a bundle with a phone when I was in the EU for work. The bundle was pretty cheap but P900 is also very cheap and you would have to ship in the turbocharger and deal with all the customs corruption and cheating.
