Wickedly powerful Laser Pointer

Got this laser pointer in the mail last week. First thoughi it was just one of those ordinary ones I see during presentation. Well, at least that’s what I thought until I powered it up.

Powered by just two triple-A batteries, this laser pointer from Wicked Lasers is the most intense laser I’ve ever seen or used. Most of the regular lasers shoots out red light but this one is a bright green light. The laser looks pretty simple, much like a small flashlight encased in a metallic shell.

The beam could probably blind you if this hits your eye. I can even feel the heat on my palm beamed a few inches from the pointer.

Took this picture of the laser beam in an unlit room and exposed the shot from the dslr for about half a second. And no, it’s not really burning a hole in the wall.

The model unit that I received was an Executive Series from Wicked Lasers which is rated at about 125mW and retails for $399.

  8. Bong says:

    Impressive but prohibitively expensive!

Isn’t there a less expensive equivalent that is locally available? Even just an imitation with half the power of the featured Wicked Laser pointer.

  9. jhay says:

A nice gift for geeks this Christmas, but really, for that price tag? It’ll be one heck of a gift!

  10. Mike Lopez says:

Nice one Yuga. I have a 5mW green pointer which I use for stargazing (useful for pointing out stars to friends) but yours is way cooler at 125mW.

I think, at that power, you can probably pop a black balloon. Note it has to be black so it absorbs the heat better.

  11. Abe Olandres says:

@Paul, yup, it’s being sold globally. The shipping address indicated it came from China. Check out the website of Wicked Lasers and you’d see far more powerful lasers sold there.

  12. siraniks says:

wow… awesome… but it could blind people and can make self-defense…

  13. Paul says:

    Hi Abe,

Don’t get me wrong. I am surprised that this laser is being sold in the market now. As far as I know, the US government (of some state though) prohibited the selling of that particular item.

Try to watch some of the episodes of CSI Miami. One of the episodes there would show you a scene where a terrorist used a laser pointer(of the same brightness quality and yes, the same light color) and tried to blind a pilot from an airplane (I forgot the jargon used on how to measure the distance of the plane from the ground. hahaha) and then the plane crushed. On the scene, the terrorist was trying to steal something the plane had inside.

Well, anyway, is that item made in the US? Please take extra careful in using that especially around the children. That device can indeed blind other people.

  14. Anthony Pierre says:

This is a useful device especially if there is an interest in astronomy.

  17. BrianB says:

  18. icezorg says:
