Found this entry at Kottke.org via Cynical-C Blog for a record of the most number of comments left on a blog post/entry:
The Matrix Reloaded thread (it actually spans two threads because MT was beginning to buckle under the pressure) got 1,767 comments in six months. MetaFilter’s longest thread has 1,729 comments. I’ve seen 1,000+ comment threads on Dooce and political blogs like Daily Kos probably have 1000+ comments threads all the time. This Engadget thread has 3,324 comments. Slashdot’s thread on the end of the 2004 Presidential election garnered 5,687 comments.
The comments was turned off so I wasn’t able to add mine. Engadget seems to be holding the record but the one that got over five thousand comments is no longer active.
My Smart Wifi entry is still getting a regular flow of comments both on my blog and thru emails. At 2,185 comments (and growing), I guess it should be holding the record anytime soon (unless Smart fixes their wifi service… hehehe).

I’m getting Smart WiFi comments too. Remember Pinoy Tech Blog – we had to close the comments on that one because the commenters were fighting!
Abe Olandres says:
haha, until gumanda yung service ng Smart which is not anytime soon.
Manuel Viloria says:
Whoa. Nine months worth of comments. When will it end? I wonder if blogs are a PR person’s nightmare, or if these online discussions are merely shrugged off.
Nine months. Nanganak na nang nanganak.
