I recently logged on to my Technorati account and found the inbound links of several of my blogs have changed (increased) dramatically. My blog here and PTB got the highest increase so far.
Adam Hertz of Technorati posted an explanation on their blog:
The change affects how Technorati ranks its over 18.5 million blogs. Our new link counts expose more active blogs and rising stars, allowing readers to discover blogs currently receiving the attention of the blogosphere.
If you’re still unfamiliar with how Technorati works, it basically determines a blog’s ranking based on the number of links from unique blogs over the last 6 months. If John links to Susie 5 times in 5 months Technorati will count 5 new links to Susie from 1 unique source. Susie’s rank will change based on this 1 new source.
The last time I checked and posted the Technorati rankings here was over 6 weeks ago. Now, here’s what I got:
- Houseonahill.net: Rank# 1,707 (1,248 links from 407 sites)
- PinoyBlog: Rank # 2,163 (783 links from 348 sites)
- Quezon.ph: Rank# 4,295 (576 links from 223 sites)
- kwentongtambay.nicanordavid.com: Rank# 4,724 (439 links from 210 sites)
- PinoyCook.net: Rank# 5,085 (729 links from 199 sites)

I got this:
The J Spot http://jangelo.i.ph 22,817 (207 links from 71 sites)
22,816 to go before becoming #1. Hahaha!
Hi David,
Yes, I believe the new counts are close to the real thing. I am also seeing less and less “server busy” notices whenever I do search on Technorati.
I hope you’ve added enough servers already to give it more umph. Thanks for passing by. :)
Wilson,
Aha! Just found out about it. :D Thanks for the props!
Hi Yuga,
You’re cool! David Sifry is the founder and CEO of Technorati!
Getting him to comment in your blog should be something!
Hope you find the new counts more accurate! We’re continuing to make more improvements over the next weeks and months…
Would love your feedback and comments.
Dave
