Apple has announced that it will reduce its pricing strategy for its prized iPhones in several international markets.
iPhone sales are down globally for the company’s fiscal 2019 Q1 that ended last December 28, but they have still made USD 52 billion in revenue for the past year. Apple CEO Tim Cook has expressed to Reuters that its pricing has become a major issue in several countries where their currency has weakened against the US Dollar, and the company hopes to change that by making changes to its future iPhone pricing. “And so as we’ve gotten into January and assessed the macroeconomic condition in some of those markets, we’ve decided to go back to more commensurate with what our local prices were a year ago in hopes of helping the sales in those areas,” Cook said.
The most recent lineup of iPhones released is some of the most expensive to date, with the most affordable iPhone XR being sold locally at PHP 50,990, up to the most expensive iPhone XS Max at PHP 97,490. The company is expected to benefit from a roster of more affordable devices given that its services, such as Apple Music and App Store, are generating income and growth for the company.
