Grocery delivery service Honestbee sent out notices to customers that they are temporarily halting local operations in the Philippines, according to official emails sent last April 19.
The reason behind this sudden development is due to funding issues with HQ. A copy of the email states:
“At Honestbee Philippines, we value the relationship we have built with you.
As we work with our HeadQuarters towards bringing the total business to a healthy and sustainable level, we unfortunately need to temporarily pause our local operations until further notice.
Thank you for understanding, and we apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused…”
Honestbee expanded in the Philippines around 1st quarter of last year.
There has been reports of layoffs in the regional offices too, according to TechinAsia and VulcanPost. This was confirmed to us in a text message by the Honestbee Philippines Country Manager but maintains that the over 200 employees are still reporting in the Philippine office and no layoffs were done in the local operations.
A quick message from their app shows this:
No other details of the temporary closure of service or when it will be back again.
How to regester our restaurant to your apps. Thank you so much!
