As reported by Financial Times and researched by Canalys, Samsung far surpasses the competition in terms of foldable smartphones sold in 2022.
The report shared that approximately 14.2 million foldables were sold in 2022 with Samsung having sold over 11 million units with the rest of the competition such as Huawei, OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, HONOR, and Motorola combining for roughly only 3.2 million.
The next significant seller of foldable smartphones according to the report was Huawei with a little under 2 million foldables sold in 2022.
It also seems that foldables continue to rise in popularity with the Financial Times also estimating that foldable smartphone shipments will likely double in 2023 and reach 30 million.
This seems very likely with Samsung also reportedly wanting to sell over 15 million units of their Galaxy Z Flip4 and Z Fold4 alone in 2023 and with new foldable smartphones coming in 2023 from brands such as Honor, OPPO, and Tecno.
