We can clearly see the differences lying in camera setup, chipsets, and graphics cards. Join us today as we dive in what makes these phones tick in terms of hardware configuration.

Display

The two phones have an mirrored display setup, both sporting a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution.

However, even with both phones having a refresh rate of 120Hz, there’s a difference in graphics cards due to the chipset.

Matching these two for the display category should be a no-brainer, as the Galaxy A55 5G has a better chipset.

Chipset

Speaking of chipsets, the Galaxy A35 5G runs on a Samsung Exynos 1380.

This chipset has 5 nanometers and runs on four (4) Cortex-A78 cores at 2.4GHz and four (4) Cortex-A55 cores at 2.05GHz.

As for the Galaxy A55 5G, it runs on a Samsung Exynos 1480. This chipset has 4 nanometers and runs on four (4) Cortex-A78 cores at 2.75GHz and four (4) Cortex-A55 cores at 2.05GHz.

On paper, the processors may seem like they only have a slight difference from how much the cores clock in. However, we also have the graphics card to consider.

The Exynos 1380 is paired with an ARM Mali-G68 GPU, while the Exynos 1480 is paired with a Samsung Xclipse 530 GPU.

With these out of the way, we’re going to consider how both devices perform through our benchmark scores as testing.

Upon review, the Exynos 1480 had a score of 728,872 points in Antutu benchmarks for the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G.

Meanwhile, the Exynos 1380 had a score of 590,740 for the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G.

For those curious about the overall scores, we’ve also prepared a table comparing both devices’ general performance.

Judging from the numbers however, the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G clearly has an advantage.

Memory / Storage

Both devices have 8GB of RAM available, and options for 128GB or 256GB of internal storage.

The Galaxy A-series smartphones also give users the option to sacrifice a nano-SIM slot for microSD cards for extra storage space.

Under this area, we’re going to have to call it a tie between both smartphones.

Either way, both have the capacity for effective storage, meeting bare minimums in RAM and storing general data.

Cameras

The newly-released smartphone duo both use a triple-rear camera setup.

The Galaxy A55 5G has a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 5MP macro lens.

In contrast, the Galaxy A35 5G has a 50MP main camera, a 8MP ultrawide, and a 5MP macro lens.

Both smartphones have similarities in their main cameras and macro lenses, but differ in ultrawide lenses. Next, the Galaxy A55 5G has an advantage in taking selfies with its front camera with a sizable megapixel advantage.

All things considered, this round surely goes towards the way of the Galaxy A55 5G.

Connectivity / Features

On to connectivity and features, both smartphones have 5G as the name implies. The devices are also inclusive of hybrid dual nano-SIM card slots, Bluetooth 5.3, and WiFi 6.

The devices run on OneUI 6.1 based on Android 14, and charge via USB Type-C. Other than that, there’s not much here to make readers raise eyebrows or nitpick from.

Both the Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G are tied as both devices are too similar in connectivity and features.

The smartphones are both powered with 5,000mAh lithium ion batteries featuring 25W of wired charging. It’s lifespan should be above average compared to phones working with 4,500mAh.

Both the Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G should take about an hour or so to charge to full.

Final Thoughts

The Galaxy A35 5G should not be that far in terms of performance when compared to the Galaxy A55 5G. However, the latter has better overall computing ability coupled with a better camera setup.

But even so, the Galaxy A35 5G should still be an asset for end users, even with a competitive market for mid-range smartphones in 2024.

We highly suggest readers to look into the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G, as it sports a great display, an above-average mid-range camera setup and battery life, and an efficient chipset.
