Smart has just introduced Giga Plans as its latest postpaid offering. They have also included Line-only plans for those who are not fond of the two-year commitment with the network. Globe also has this offering under their current myLifestyle No Lock-up plans. Let’s compare the two and see which telco offers the best monthly service plan.
Globe | Smart | |
---|---|---|
Plan 399 | - | 1GB data 20 minute calls to all networks Unli texts to all networks |
Plan 599 | 500MB data Unlimited calls to Globe/TM Unlimited texts to all networks | 4GB data 30 minute calls to all networks Unli texts to all networks |

Plan 2999 | 20GB Unlimited calls to Globe/TM Unlimited texts to all networks | 36GB data 90 minute calls to all networks Unli texts to all networks |
Both telcos don’t offer any handset discount under these plans which is the trade-off of a contract-free postpaid plan. You can terminate your subscription anytime you want plus you get more allowance compared to regular plans.
Seems like Smart is giving a lot of data to its postpaid subs with up to twice the data Globe offers. As for calls, Globe allows unlimited calls within their network while Smart gives a number of minutes to call anyone in the country. Both gives freedom in texting anyone in any network.
Since Smart’s offering is new, we expect Globe to battle this out anytime soon. A healthy competition like this is good for consumers.

Are both promos excempted fron fair use policy? Thanks in advance sa sasagot ????

The catch is after 2 years, the monthly cost will increase if you choose to extend your plan. I have a 499 sim-only plan from a year ago with unlicall/unlitext to Globe and 3Gb data. This will increase to 799 by next year. The difference with this year’s sim-only plans is the inclusion of ‘Unlimited texts to all networks’. This will probably add 299p to your monthly cost after the promo ends in 2 years.
Policarpio B. says:
P299 is the cost for 2years satisfaction from free facebook + additional 3GB data + Unlimited texts to all network. You may want to apply. Tomorrow is the deadline. Mic drop.
Daniel Morial says:
Hi! The Plan 499 with 3GB data was a limited promo just like the current Plan 999 down to Plan 799. I also have the Plan 499 promo and it seems that it also has the unli all-net text now.

Smart gives you fast Internet on its 1st Month After that it will be slow meanwhile Globe gives consistent Average speed Globe is better than smart
Momewtwo says:
I’ve been playing a Mobile Game App (Ingress) for over 3 years. The game constantly needs an internet connection, so I’ve been switching networks to get a “better mobile data experience”. Globe has a better “connection” (LTE signal, constant speed, lesser data drops/blackouts) than Smart
Jaime Martin says:
Last year, I subscribed to Globe’s ?499 sim only plan. It has 3GB data and unlimited calls & texts to Globe.
Foofiemush says:
is the new No Lock In Plans (Globe) covered by the Anti-Bill Shock (ABS)?
Daniel Morial says:
I have the No Lock-up Plan 499 with 3GB promo offered before and it has Anti-Bill Shock. Not sure though for the current plans. It’s best to ask Globe when applying.

trapik says:
Globe is for call/text while Smart is for data and text. Bottomline, depends on your needs.
Ken M says:
for those who have leftover data at the end of their billing cycles, globe has an option to roll over – which will be better suited for them IMO
H says:
The Globe plans posted on this article and on Globe’s website looks like the ones they had 2 months ago. I’m not sure about the other plans but as far as my no lock-up plan is concerned, I used to pay P999 monthly for 5gb data. But starting last month, I’m now paying only P799 for 6gb data. With unlimited text to all networks, unlicalls to Globe/TM, free facebook for 24 months and free premium Spotify for 3 months.
Daniel Morial says:
This is currently a promotional plan for the Plan 999. New plans are coming soon.
