Huawei launched in the Philippines last month its desktop PC, the Huawei MateStation S, and the Huawei Display. Together, these devices can provide users a complete productivity gear for under PHP 40K, which is great for those looking for something to use for their work-from-home and online learning needs. But how does it fare with other devices of similar nature, like the Dell Vostro 3681 and Dell 22 Monitor SE2219HX? Let’s find out by comparing their features.
Size
One of the main features of the two desktop PCs is their size. These devices don’t take a lot of desk space thanks to their small form factors, which is great if you have limited space to work with, so you can have enough for your monitor, keyboard, mouse, and other stuff you might need. Both sport attractive designs and should fit any workplace or home office.
The Huawei MateStation S measures 293mm in height, 93mm in width, and 315.5mm in depth, and weighs 4.2kg. The Dell Vostro 3681, on the other hand, measures 290mm in height, 92.6mm in width, and 292.mm in depth, and weighs 3.52kg. Given the measurements, the latter is more compact, but the former’s star-trail design looks more attractive.
CPU and Graphics
The Huawei MateStation S is powered by the AMD Ryzen 5 4600G processor, while the Dell Vostro 3681 model that we have is powered by an Intel Core i5-10400. The former has a higher base clock speed and performs better in benchmarks compared to the latter.
Both use integrated graphics, with the MateStation S having an AMD Radeon Vega 7 Graphics, while the Dell Vostro 3681 has up to Intel UHD Graphics 630. The integrated graphics chip on the Ryzen 5 is also significantly better, capable of outputting 1,702 GFLOPS compared to Intel’s UHD 630 with 461 GFLOPS.
This doesn’t mean that you can play with games though but the MateStation S can provide you with more power should applications need a push from a GPU.
RAM and Storage
The Huawei MateStation S is offered with 8GB RAM, while the Dell Vostro 3681 has up to 4GB RAM. Obviously, the former is more capable given the larger capacity, which is important if you’re running plenty of applications or multiple Chrome tabs.
When it comes to storage, the MateStation S is equipped with a 256GB SSD, while the Dell Vostro 3681 has a 1TB HDD. While the latter has more storage, the former is more attractive given that it’s faster. And when it comes to productivity, speed will matter more. It’s also less likely you’ll need 1TB capacity unless you’re storing large files like photos and videos. But for productivity, a 256GB SSD should be more than enough.
Connectivity
For the Huawei MateStation S, it has WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless connectivity. On the front, it has the 3.5mm audio jack, USB 2.0 Type-C that can fast charge a smartphone, and USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A. At the back, it has a mic-in, audio line out, audio line-in, HDMI port, VGA port, 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 2x USB 2.0 Type-A, RJ45, and serial port.
For the Dell Vostro 3681, it has WiFi 802.11 ac and Bluetooth 4.2. On the front, it has a 3.5mm combo audio jack, 2x USB 2.0 Type-A, and 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A. At the back, we have a 3.5mm audio jack, HDMI, VGA, 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 2x USB 2.0 Type-A, and RJ 45.
The two are pretty much complete when it comes to its connectivity options. The MateStation S though has a newer Bluetooth version and USB Type-C port, while the Dell Vostro 3681 has more USB ports, so you can connect more peripherals.
Other features
The Huawei MateStation S inherits the features found on its MateBook cousins. It’s powered by Huawei Share, allowing you to use features like Multi-Screen Collaboration, File Transfer, and Cross-device editing. Just like with the MateBooks, you can work on something on your Huawei smartphone, then simply continue it on the MateStation S. You can also easily and quickly transfer files without the need for cables.
How do you pair your Huawei smartphone to the MateStation S? You can do that via the Huawei Wired Keyboard included in the package. It supports tap to connect, and has a built-in fingerprint power button for a one-touch startup, making it the world’s first fingerprint power on a desktop. Just tap your Huawei Smartphone on that specific part of the keyboard and it will automatically pair.
For the Dell Vostro 3681, it also offers a smartphone and PC integration using the Dell Mobile Connect feature. It allows you to connect your iOS or Android smartphone to the desktop using the Dell Mobile Connect app, so you can make calls, send texts, and get notifications. You can even mirror your phone to the desktop so you can access your apps, and easily transfer files wirelessly.
The Dell Vostro 3681 is also bundled with a keyboard and mouse but doesn’t offer the fancy features found on the Huawei MateStation S.
The desktops mentioned above will not work without a monitor. In this case, both Huawei and Dell offer monitors for these models — the Huawei Display and the Dell 22 Monitor SE2219HX
Design
For the Huawei Display, it sports a modern design with a slim top and side bezels measuring 5.7mm thin. It is mounted to a slim base as well and can be tilted between -5 to 22-degree angles. It also supports VESA mounting standards if you want to hang it on a wall or desk mount.
For the Dell 22, it sports a similar look. Although it didn’t provide measurements, the bezels are also thin at the top and bottom. It can be tilted between -5 to 21-degree angle, but no support for VESA mounting.
Screen size and resolution
The Huawei Display features a 23.8-inch screen size with a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) for a 90% screen-to-body ratio, and a 60Hz refresh rate. It has an IPS panel for accurate colors, a wide viewing angle of 178 degrees, has 250 nits of brightness, 72% NTSC color gamut, 16.7M color depth, and 1000:1 contrast ratio. The display is also certified by TÃœV Rheinland for reducing harmful blue light and eliminating flickers.
For the Dell 22, we have a 22-inch screen size with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) and a 60Hz refresh rate. It also has an IPS panel, 250 nits of brightness, a wide viewing angle of 178 degrees, supports 16.7M colors, 1000:1 contrast ratio, and anti-glare coating.

The two offer the same for the ports. Both the Huawei Display and Del 22 have one VGA, one HDMI, and a power connector.

Why the Huawei MateStation S is the better option?
If you’re given the option to choose between two desktops, we recommend getting the Huawei MateStation S with the Huawei Display. It can provide you with more power to handle productivity tasks. The exclusive Huawei features are also a plus especially if you already own a Huawei device to maximize productivity. While storage is limited, you can easily remedy that by purchasing an external hard drive which is cheaper nowadays.
For the monitor, while the two have the same specs, the Huawei Display has a slightly bigger screen. The VESA mount support is a big plus especially if you want to free up space on your desk. Besides, it’s the perfect match for the Huawei MateStation S.
To conclude, if you’re looking for a PC for work under PHP 40K the Huawei MateStation S will provide the best bang for your buck.
