Table of Contents
Both smartphones come with AMOLED panels. However, the OnePlus 8 Pro exceeds the Mi 10 Pro in terms of screen size with a 6.78-inch QHD+ display. It also presents more accurate and punchy colors, thanks to its 10-bit color display and HDR10+ support. The Mi 10 Pro, meanwhile, sports a 6.67-inch AMOLED display and has a slower frame and touch response rates up to 90 Hz and 180Hz, respectively. While Xiaomi stated that it used Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection against accidental scratches, OnePlus did not mention the type of Corning Gorilla Glass protection it got for its premium model.
Camera-wise, both handsets boast quad-rear cameras. The OnePlus 8 Pro boasts a 48MP Sony IMX586 ultra-wide sensor, which is higher than the Mi 10 Pro’s 20MP sensor. The latter is equipped with a 108 MP main lens while the latter has Sony’s IMX689 sensor in 48 MP that boasts hybrid stabilization. Completing the remaining rear cameras for the Mi 10 Pro are 12MP and 8MP short and long telephoto lenses. One Plus 8 Pro, on the other hand, has 8MP 3x telephoto and 5MP color filter sensors.
For taking selfies, the OnePlus 8 Pro has a fixed focus 16 MP Sony IMX471 front-facing camera. Replacing it with the Mi 10 Pro is a higher resolution 20MP camera sensor.
Compared to the OnePlus 8 Pro, the Mi 10 Pro excels slightly in the battery department. The latter’s battery capacity might be 10mAh less than the former, but it offers a faster 50W wired fast charging. This means that the smartphone can get a full charge in just 45 minutes when plugged in an outlet versus to OnePlus 8 Pro’s Warp Charge 30T that only gains 60% of battery in an hour. Both phones also comes with 30W wireless charging.
As 5G-ready smartphones, the Mi 10 Pro and the OnePlus 8 Pro get Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 under the hood. Expect to see flagship performance, especially in multi-tasking and gaming, thanks to its 8GB and 12GB RAM configurations. However, the Mi 10 Pro offers more storage up to 512 GB while the OnePlus 8 Pro only has up to 256 GB.
Placing the specs of both smartphones side by side, we can’t deny that the OnePlus 8 Pro offers more than Xiaomi’s recent flagship phone. Among these features include haptic vibration for a more immersive gaming experience, better GPS capabilities, IP68 rating for water resistance, and dual stereo speakers powered with Dolby Atmos. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro also has a fair share of practical technologies. It has a built-in cooling system that optimizes the CPU’s performance and IR Blaster for controlling smart home appliances. Do note that it does not have an IP rating.
Here are the prices of each device:
Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro
• 8GB + 256GB: CNY 4,999
• 12GB + 256GB: CNY 5,499
• 12GB + 512GB: CNY 5,999
OnePlus 8 Pro
• 8GB + 128GB: USD 899 (Glacial Green)
• 12GB + 256GB: USD 999 (Ultramarine Blue, Onyx Black)
Local availability and pricing for both smartphones are yet to be announced. On the other hand, the OnePlus 8 Pro is currently available for pre-order in Europe. It will be on sale in the US on April 29 through the OnePlus’s website. As for the Mi 10 Pro, the device had its launch in China, but it’ll surely make its way to the Philippines, just like its predecessors.
While it can’t match up to the unique features and battery ratings of the OnePlus 8 Pro on paper, the Mi 10 Pro is still a competent flagship device worth considering because of its powerful chipset, a decent set of cameras, and larger memory. Should you want a top-tier and very capable phone for work, gaming, and entertainment, then the OnePlus 8 Pro is for you.
