Display
The Reno3 has a display measuring at 6.4-inches, which is slightly smaller than the Note 9 Pro’s massive 6.67-inch screen. Despite the difference in size, both devices have an FHD+ 2400 x 1080 pixel resolution. The Reno3 has a drop notch that houses its front camera, while the Note 9 Pro has a pinhole-shaped module for its front camera.
Cameras
The two devices have a set of quadruple cameras situated on their respective rears. The Reno 3 has 48MP main + 8MP ultra-wide + 13MP telephoto + 2MP snappers, stacked vertically on the upper left corner on the back. On the other hand, the Note 9 Pro’s 48MP main + 8MP ultra-wide + 5MP macro + 2MP depth shooters are arranged inside a square-shaped module. They’re nearly similar when it comes to the main and ultrawide camera resolutions but differ in the other two cameras they equipped.
For front shooters, the Reno3 has a whopping 44MP camera, while the Note 9 Pro has a smaller 16MP lens. As always, these camera resolutions don’t equate to actual picture quality. We’ll have to wait and see how their images compare side-by-side.
Battery
The Note 9 Pro triumphs in the battery department with its massive 5,020mAh cell, compared to the Reno3’s small 4,025mAh capacity. Both devices have support for fast charging; the Reno3 has VOOC Flash Charge 3.0, while the Note 9 Pro has 18W fast charging. Additionally, the two handsets have a USB Type-C port.
Performance
Under the hood, the Reno3 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P90 chipset. Meanwhile, the Note 9 Pro comes with a Snapdragon 720G chipset. The Reno3’s chipset is a year and a half older than the quite new Snapdragon 720G processor on the Note 9 Pro. Both processors sit on the upper midrange level, and they’re powerful in their own right.
For the memory, the Reno3 has 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1, which is expandable up to 256GB via microSD. As for the Note 9 Pro, it offers consumers two options on RAM and storage. There’s 4GB or 6GB LPDRR4x RAM, and 64GB or 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. Expandable storage is also present on the Note 9 Pro, with users able to push it further to 512GB via microSD.
Android 10 runs as the two device’s operating system, with their respective UI laid on top. ColorOS7 comes as the Reno3’s skin, while the Note 9 Pro has MIUI 11.
Price
The price for the Redmi Note 9 Pro is as follows:
- 4GB + 64GB: INR 12,999
- 6GB + 128GB: INR 15,999
On the other hand, OPPO has yet to reveal the price of the Reno3. We’ve already gotten word that OPPO will be launching the Reno3 series in the country soon, while there’s no mention yet of the Redmi Note 9 Pro series arriving in the Philippines. Although looking at the pros and cons of each device, it appears that the Redmi Note 9 Pro takes the crown. If OPPO wants to win consumers, it may want to launch the Reno3 at a reasonable price.
