Both OPPO Reno6 Z 5G and OnePlus Nord CE 5G sport FHD+ (2400 x 1800) AMOLED displays. The OnePlus Nord CE 5G’s screen, however, is slightly larger at 6.43-inch than the OPPO Reno6 Z 5G’s 6.4-inch, which we won’t notice anyway.
On the flip side, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G sports a 90Hz refresh rate option.
The OPPO Reno6 Z 5G is equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 800U 5G SoC paired with ARM Mali-G57 MC3 GPU. On the other hand, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G CPU paired with Adreno 619 GPU.
Looking at their Kimovil’s AnTuTu scores, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G outshines its rival at 385,000, as the OPPO Reno6 Z 5G scores 330,000. Nonetheless, keep in mind that we can only test the extent of their performance and thermals once we have both units for review.
The OPPO Reno6 Z 5G only comes with 8GB of RAM, while the OnePlus Nord CE 5G has either 8GB or a larger 12GB of RAM.
When it comes to storage, the former has 128GB, while the latter comes with either 128GB or a larger 256GB of storage. However, you have the option to expand the former as it comes with expandable storage via microSD.
For the built-in RAM and storage, the Nord CE 5G gives you more.
Talking about cameras, both phones could be equally great for photos with their triple rear cameras of the same resolution. The OPPO Reno6 Z comes with 64MP (main), 8MP (wide), and 2MP (macro) sensors, whereas the OnePlus Nord CE 5G has 64MP (main), 8MP (ultrawide), and 2MP (mono) sensors.
The OPPO Reno6 Z 5G is expected to deliver higher quality selfies with its 32MP front camera than the 16MP module on the OnePlus Nord CE 5G. Take note, though, that these numbers don’t always equate to quality. We will provide proof of which camera is better once we test both units for comparison.
As for connectivity, the two are powered with similar specs, such as 5G connectivity, dual-SIM, SatNavs, and USB Type-C.
The OPPO Reno6 Z 5G comes with more advanced Bluetooth 5.2 (vs 5.1) and WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax (vs WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac). Even if the difference between the two Bluetooth versions is not that huge, with Bluetooth 5.2, larger amounts of information can finally be transmitted over lower bandwidth and at lower power. Besides, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax (also known as WiFi 6) brings faster speeds than previous technologies in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
Meanwhile, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G benefits from having NFC, enabling quick syncing of data between devices.
For security, both devices have in-display fingerprint scanners. Both also have a 3.5mm audio jack for your wired audio peripherals.
The OPPO Reno6 Z 5G comes with a 4,310mAh battery, while the OnePlus Nord CE 5G has 4,500mAh. Both smartphones can recharge fast with the same 30W fast charging, but the latter is advantageous for its extra 210mAh battery.
The OPPO Reno6 Z 5G (8GB + 128GB) is priced at PHP 19,999. On the flip side, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G comes more affordable at PHP 16,990 for the 8GB + 128GB, and PHP 19,990 for the 12GB + 256GB.
Which one to get?
Although the smartphones have similarities, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G has more to give despite their related price tags. It includes the perks of a display with a 90Hz refresh rate, larger RAM and storage, NFC, and a larger battery capacity. And if you’ll go for the 8GB + 128GB variant, it’ll save you PHP 3K.
However, the OPPO Reno6 Z 5G gives you a higher resolution front camera, microSD slot, and advanced Bluetooth and WiFi versions.
