realme 10 Pro 5G vs OPPO A78 5G: Specs Comparison

Today, we’ll be looking at the OPPO A78 5G powered by a MediaTek chipset against the realme 10 Pro 5G running on Snapdragon chip. With not much of a price difference between the two, which smartphone do you think has the edge over the other? Let’s answer that question in our specs comparison.

Realme 10 Pro 5g Vs Oppo A78 5g

Display

Right off the bat we already see a drawback on the OPPO A78 since it only sports an HD+ screen and a 90Hz refresh rate against the Full HD+ resolution on the realme 10 Pro with a higher refresh rate at 120Hz giving you a smoother experience in navigation.

Both phones use an LCD panel with the realme 10 Pro spanning at 6.7 inches.

The OPPO A78 has a smaller 6.56-inch display, but it does have an additional layer of protection thanks to its Panda glass cover.

Chipset

Underneath the realme 10 Pro is a Snapdragon 695 chipset while on the OPPO A78 is a Dimensity 700.

Based on nanoreview, the Snapdragon chip beats the Dimensity in all fronts.

Do note that the Dimensity chip runs on a 7-nanometer process as compared to the 6-nanometer process node on the Snapdragon.

Besides, the Snapdragon 695 is a newer chip having been announced in 2021, while the Dimensity 700 was released way back in 2020.

Memory and Storage

Both devices have pretty identical parameters in this category.

In fact, both of them has 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM with an additional Dynamic RAM—as what both realme and OPPO calls it—of up to 8GB.

Giving users 16GB of RAM in total.

For the storage, both have 128 gigabytes that’s expandable up to 1 terabyte via microSD.

Cameras

In terms of camera performance, the realme 10 Pro takes the lead with a 108-megapixel main camera.

The OPPO A78 is left with a 50-megapixel main.

Both of these have dual camera setup, and that secondary lens is a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

For selfies, realme has a 16-megapixel front camera which is higher than OPPO’s 8-megapixel.

The realme 10 Pro may have easily bagged this one BUT… higher megapixel count does not always equate to better quality. Always take note of that.

Battery and Charging

There’s actually nothing to compare in this category since both devices offer a 5,000 mAh of battery and 33 watts fast charging.

They’re both under the same umbrella—BKK Electronics—thus, these phones use the same SuperVOOC charging tech.

Other Features

The similar key features the two phones share is having a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and Android 13.

The OPPO A78 having more features to offer finally gets a win.

It has an IPX4 rating for water resistance, an NFC, and a newer Bluetooth modem (5.3 vs. 5.1 on realme 10 Pro).

And even though both are powered by Android 13, there will be lots of differences when it comes to their Android skins since the realme 10 Pro has realme UI 4.0 and the OPPO A78 has ColorOS 13.

Which one should you get?

On paper, the realme 10 Pro is victorious in this matchup.

Retailing for only PHP 16,999, it packs a better display, a more powerful chip, and a whopping 108-megapixel camera against the competition.

The OPPO A78, with its own merits is still a pretty good choice and it is much more affordable retailing for only PHP 14,990.

And for that price, you already get two added layers of protection with its Panda glass and IPX4 rating, a more convenient tap-to-pay feature via NFC, and a newer Bluetooth modem.

So, if you’re choosing between the realme 10 Pro 5G and the OPPO A78 5G, which one would you get and why?
