Realme X vs Realme 3 Pro: What’s different?

Realme has been on a roll these past few months as they bring smartphones with good specs and features at a competitive price point. Realme X is a testament to that with its pop-up camera feature and in-display scanner. Let’s compare it with the recently launched smartphone in the country, the Realme 3 Pro, shall we?

Here are their detailed specs:

Here are the advantages of each smartphone:

Realme X

  • Larger screen size
  • The higher maximum RAM capacity
  • Higher main rear camera resolution
  • USB Type-C

Realme 3 Pro

  • Dedicated micro SD card slot
  • Higher front camera resolution
  • Larger battery capacity

Both devices have their own pros and cons, starting with the display. The Realme X comes with a whopping 6.53-inch AMOLED screen which is almost at the size of a phablet. The Realme 3 Pro, on the other hand, has a smaller IPS screen. At this point, both devices are already great for watching movies; however, what I liked is that both have a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 screen protection. If you want to know the difference between AMOLED and IPS panels, read our guide here.

For performance, both are powered with the premium mid-range Snapdragon 710 chipset which provides above average CPU performance and gaming capability. The difference, however, is that the Realme X has an 8GB RAM variant which can handle more processes that are running simultaneously.

The Realme X comes with a 48MP Sony IMX 586 rear lens which is the current trend nowadays, as well as a 16MP pop-up selfie camera that can also be seen in the OPPO F11 Pro and VIVO V15 Pro. This kind of setup also ditches the notch design that became a trend last year. We’ll know more how it performs once we get our hands on the device.

Another innovation that the Realme X brought to the budget smartphone segment is the in-display fingerprint scanner. I didn’t put it on the phone’s advantage yet as we’ll have to know how it performs first. Another feature is the existing USB Type-C port on the device which should be the standard in 2019 if you’d ask me.

While the Realme 3 Pro carries a larger battery than the Realme X, we can safely say that it will also last longer given that the latter has a larger display which affects battery life. Aside from that, the former has the same chipset and OS that are also main factors on how long can a smartphone last.

Here are the prices of each variant of both the devices:

  • Realme X 4GB + 64GB – CNY 1,499 (~PHP 11,415)
  • Realme X 6GB + 64GB – CNY 1,599 (~PHP 12,176)
  • Realme X 8GB + 128GB – CNY 1,799 (~PHP 13,699)
  • Realme 3 Pro (4GB + 64GB) – PHP 12,990
  • Realme 3 Pro (6GB + 128GB) – PHP 14,990

Realme X provides a better and fresher user experience. However, if that isn’t your thing then go for the Realme 3 Pro if you’re looking for a daily driver that has the same performance and potential longer-lasting battery life. What do you guys think?
