Both smartphones have their advantages in terms of display. Both smartphones come with an FHD+ display with 2400 x 1080 resolution. In addition, both can also deliver rich colors and deep blacks, thanks to the Super AMOLED Plus screen on the Samsung Galaxy M52 5G and AMOLED on the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE. Nonetheless, the Super AMOLED Plus is more advanced, and it integrates touch-sensors and the actual screen in a single layer.
Further, the Galaxy M52 5G has a smoother 120Hz refresh rate than the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE’s 90Hz. With a higher refresh rate, scrolling through social media, long documents, or news feeds is less strenuous on the eyes because of the extra perceived fluidity.
On the flip side, the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE features a 240Hz touch sampling rate, Dolby Vision, and HDR 10+. In addition, it is also equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection against damage from drops. According to Corning, the Gorilla Glass 5 survives up to 1.2-meter waist-high drops onto hard, rough surfaces.
Powering both smartphones is the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G chipset paired with Adreno 642L GPU, so we can expect the same level of performance on both. However, do note that we can only determine the extent of their performance and thermals once we have both units for a review.
The Samsung Galaxy M52 5G comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE comes in 6GB or 8GB of RAM with either 128GB or 256GB storage. Both smartphones benefit from expandable storage up to 1TB via microSD.
Both smartphones come with triple rear cameras. The Samsung Galaxy M52 5G comes with 64MP (main), higher-resolution 12MP (ultrawide), and 5MP (macro) sensors. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE comprises triple rear cameras with 64MP (main), 5MP (ultrawide), and 5MP (telemacro) sensors.
Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy M52 5G also advances with its 32MP front camera compared to the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE’s 20MP.
The two devices have 5G connectivity, Dual-SIM, WiFi 6, NFC, SatNavs, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and USB Type-C.
The only difference in connectivity is the more advanced Bluetooth 5.2 on the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE. In addition, it features LE Power Control and LE Audio, which is the latest in audio technology. With these advancements and efficiency improvements, Bluetooth 5.2 offers faster pairing capabilities.
Moreover, for audio, the Samsung Galaxy M52 5G has a single speaker, while the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE has Dual Speakers. However, the Samsung Galaxy device also comes with Dolby Atmos that only supports stereo headsets and BT speakers.
What’s also missing on both devices is a 3.5mm audio jack. This wouldn’t be a problem, though, if their packages would come with a USB-C to 3.5mm audio jack adapter.
For the software, both are running on Android 11 using their own custom skins.
The Samsung Galaxy M52 5G comes with a larger 5,000mAh battery, while the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE has 4,250mAh. However, the Xiaomi device supports a faster 33W charging rate (vs. 25W), so it can replenish its juice quicker.
