Both of these devices have their manufacturer’s fastest and latest SoCs. The P40 sports Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G, while Note 20 has Samsung’s Exynos 990 octa-core CPU, there is also a Qualcomm Snapdragon variant for some countries. We’re yet to benchmark both devices but you can expect great performance given the flagship chips.
When it comes to memory, the Note 20 offered in the country has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. For the P40, it has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Note 20 doesn’t support expandable storage, while the P40 supports NM cards.
Both the Huawei P40 and the Galaxy Note 20 pack a triple-rear camera setup. The P40 has a higher resolution for the main and ultrawide cameras, while the Note 20 has a higher resolution for the telephoto camera.
As for the front-facing camera, the Huawei P40 has an oval cutout on the upper left corner of the display, which also houses an IR camera for facial recognition. The Galaxy Note 20, on the other hand, has a hole-punch camera situated in the middle.
Again, the number of pixels doesn’t always guarantee image quality. We’ll know which cameras are better once we have both devices for review.
When it comes to connectivity, both of these devices have 4G LTE, WiFi 6 Plus Bluetooth 5.1, and an NFC chip built-in and GPS. However, in the case of the Note 20, you’ll have to get it from a telco to get the 5G model.
For biometrics, the Note 20 has an S-Pen, ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, and facial recognition, while the P40 also has an in-display fingerprint scanner and IR Facial Recognition.
Both devices are running their own custom UIs based on Android 10. The Note 20 has OneUI 2.1 with Google Mobile Services, while the P40 has EMUI 10.1 with Huawei Mobile Services. Those who want to use Google’s services and apps out of the box will like the Note 20.
