A newcomer in town is the HONOR 200 Series claiming to be a duo of “AI Portrait Masters”. With its vanilla HONOR 200 falling under the Php25,000 price range, how does it fare against another camera-centric phone like the TECNO Camon 30 Premier?

In this comparison review of the Camon 30 Premier versus the HONOR 200, we will compare each device’s pros and cons to answer the question, “Which one should you get?”
So, without further ado, let’s dive right in!

Design and Construction
Let’s start with the looks. Both phones are clearly going for bold design choices here.
At the rear, the Camon 30 Premier features a large circular camera island contained in this knurled edge ring. This gets complemented by its leather back panel exuding a more premium vibe. There is a red dot on the upper left corner which is actually an LED indicator — more on that later.
On the upper right portion is what seems to be a decorative material that curves inward. I say “decorative” because it doesn’t really add ergonomics to it. But with a layout like this, I can see that the phone is trying to mimic the aesthetics of a vintage film camera. Perhaps it took inspiration from rangefinder cameras.
Going over to the sides, the phone has a metal frame that surely adds a premium feel in the hands.
Meanwhile, the HONOR 200 has this oval-shaped camera island that is relatively smaller than Camon 30 Premiere’s. The enclosure is in glossy finish, and it sits on the upper left corner of the device.
The back panel is in matte finish and somewhat feels metallic to the touch. However, upon further research, it’s actually made of premium polycarbonate material. The phone’s flat frame could be made of the same material as well.
I would say the HONOR 200 is more comfortable to hold given its curved sides. It is also lighter and slimmer than the competition, weighing only 187 grams and measuring 7.7 millimeters thin as compared to the Camon 30 Premiere’s 210 grams and 7.9 millimeters depth.
On the subject of ingress protection, the Camon 30 Premier has the advantage here since it comes with an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance. Not to mention, you can expect its leather back panel to not wear out so easily because of its hydrophobic coating.
This is ideal for those with sweaty hands as the material won’t be absorbing any moisture as much as other non-treated leather back panels.
As for the HONOR 200, unfortunately, it doesn’t get any IP rating despite it being the more expensive option in this comparison.
With that, the Camon 30 Premier takes the round with its more premium look and having a stronger build.
Display and Multimedia
Flip both phones over and we are greeted by vivid AMOLED panels, but they come with major differences.
The Camon 30 Premier boasts a 6.77-inch 1.5K AMOLED display which utilizes LTPO technology. This is yet another advantage since it supposedly improves battery life through dynamic refresh rate. Or in other words, it should go as low as 1Hz when viewing a static image for example and only ramps up to 120Hz when necessary, like scrolling through your social media.
Its display can reach a peak brightness of 1,400 nits and has a Gorilla Glass protection, but Tecno did not bother to specify which version. (Your guess is as good as mine.)
On the other hand, the HONOR 200 sports a tad bit smaller 6.7-inch Full HD+ Quad-Curved AMOLED display, however, no LTPO here. It has an HDR peak brightness of up to 4,000 nits but don’t be so overwhelmed as this only applies when watching certain HDR content in full screen.
It does have glass protection too in the form of an “Aluminosilicate glass”, but Honor also didn’t bother to mention any details as to how tough this glass is. Like I mentioned earlier, the phone uses a Quad-Curved screen, and unlike the typical curved panels that curves only on two sides, this type of display curves on all four sides and corners.
What’s so special about this is that the curvature isn’t too pronounced. So, while there is still glare on the sides, it isn’t as obvious as most curved displays out there.
For the actual visual experience, both phones absolutely do not disappoint. Images are sharp and vivid thanks to their AMOLED screens, and watching content is a treat with both having dual stereo speakers.

Although, you can expect a more immersive sound stage coming out of the Camon 30 Premier as it does support Dolby Atmos. The audio quality coming out of the HONOR 200 is still good, nonetheless.
With a better LTPO AMOLED panel, a slightly higher pixel density, and the addition of Dolby Atmos support, the Camon 30 Premier is looking strong giving it a two-point lead in this matchup.
Performance and Benchmarks
Now when it comes to performance, this is where the two come close.
Under the hood, the Camon 30 Premier features the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chipset and the HONOR 200 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3.
While both are built on a 4-nanometer process node, the Dimensity 8200 Ultimate offers faster speeds, clocked at up to 3.1GHz as compared to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 with 2.63GHz clock speed.
The gap in performance is evident in our ANTUTU benchmark with the Camon 30 Premier garnering almost a million points (957,924) in contrast with the HONOR 200 getting a lower score at about 830K points. This is the same case in 3DMark Wild Life with the former hitting thrice as much as the latter.

RAM and storage speeds are also superior on the Camon 30 Premier getting almost double the score in read and write speeds. Take note, both are equipped with 12GB of onboard RAM and 512GB of internal storage. No expandable storage here for both units if anyone’s wondering.
Weirdly enough, the HONOR 200 gets better results in Geekbench CPU and GPU tests as you can see in our benchmark results.
Numbers aside, both phones should perform quite well in real world use cases. Looking to play games on these phones? Well, you can do that too. We played graphic-intensive titles such as Genshin Impact and both clearly managed to bring stable frame rates at low to moderate graphics.
Performance-wise, the Camon 30 Premier could’ve easily gotten the point with its higher clock speeds. However, seeing its inconsistencies in our Geekbench results, there could be something that bottlenecks its performance, so I’ll just give it a tie this round.
Cameras
Moving on to camera capabilities, both offer similar setups, but with a slight twist.
The HONOR 200 has a triple rear setup: a primary camera and a telephoto lens both having 50-megapixel count and optical image stabilization; accompanied by a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor. At the front, it also boasts a 50-megapixel selfie camera.
The Camon 30 Premier takes it up a notch by offering all 50-megapixel cameras for the same setup as with the HONOR 200. Not to mention, its 50-megapixel selfie camera has autofocus support which the competition lacks.
However, like I always say, higher megapixel count doesn’t always mean better image quality. Check out some sample shots as seen from their individual reviews below to see which phone produces better images:
With each one’s own merits, they are surely capable of capturing images with great detail, vivid colors, and high dynamic range. There are also a number of quirky AI features to explore on both phones.
As for videos, the Camon 30 Premier gets a slight advantage as it can capture at max resolution of 4K at 60 frames per second. The HONOR 200 is capped at 4K, 30 frames per second. Both do have optical image stabilization, but you may have to adjust the resolution to 1080p to get stable footage.
Despite the HONOR 200’s 12-megapixel ultrawide camera being a slight drawback, it still produces good wide-angle shots. It’s clear that both phones offer highly capable cameras, making it another tie in this department.
Battery Life
On the subject of battery life, the HONOR 200 takes an edge here. It packs a higher-than-usual 5200mAh unit paired with a significantly faster 100W charging rate. In comparison, the Camon 30 Premier carries the usual 5000mAh battery with 70W fast charging.
Speaking of charging, expect these phones to be fully charged in just about an hour.
Unsurprisingly, the one with a bigger battery lasted longer, especially in our video loop test. The HONOR 200 lasted a solid 27 hours and 17 minutes as compared to the Camon 30 Premier’s 22 hours and 50 minutes which is still a pretty good result.
It was a close call in our PCMark Work 3.0 battery life test though. The HONOR 200 pumped out 12 hours and 55 minutes, and the Camon 30 Premier is just an hour behind at 11 hours and 52 minutes of battery life.
(The tests were done with the following parameters: 50% brightness, set to airplane mode, and audio muted.)
I did mention earlier that the LTPO technology on the Camon 30 Premier’s display can improve its battery life. However, the additional battery capacity clearly saved the HONOR 200 a win this round.
Connectivity and Other Features
For connectivity, you have the usual suspects: 5G, NFC, however the HONOR 200 gets the newer, faster Wi-Fi 6 standard. The Camon 30 Premier is left with the Wi-Fi 5 standard. You can also set up an eSIM on the HONOR 200 as a second slot.
Interestingly, both handsets get an infrared receiver allowing you to use them as universal remotes for your appliances. For biometrics, both use an under-display fingerprint sensor of the optical variety.
One additional feature on the Camon 30 Premier, that is not available on the HONOR 200, is its so-called “smart breathing light” at the back. Remember the red dot on the upper left corner? It’s an LED indicator that lights up for various functions such as recording a video, using the phone as a remote control, or as simple as a charging indicator.
Software-wise, both phones run Android 14 out of the box, but one is a standout for me. The Camon 30 Premier is skinned with HiOS 14 and the HONOR 200 gets MagicOS 8.0. As a former EMUI user who has also tried HiOS 14 for a bit, I must say that I find MagicOS’s design language more appealing.
Its icons look cleaner, the animations look smoother, and the overall look and feel are much more polished. What secured this round for the HONOR 200 is its longer update policy. While the Camon 30 Premier guarantees three years of Android updates (take note: THREE YEARS) paired with three years of security patches, it only extends until Android 16.
This phrasing could be misleading since I could mistake it to get up to Android 17. However, Tecno specifically mentioned in its press material that the Camon 30 Series will indeed just extend to Android 16. Meanwhile, the HONOR 200 adds one more major OS upgrade, extending its support until Android 17, combined with four years of security patches.
So, in this segment, the HONOR 200 deserves the point with its longer update policy and subjectively better-looking UI. Apparently, in terms of points, we have arrived at a tie as the HONOR 200 catches up in this comparison.
Which one should you get?
Now, with all that having been said and done, let’s answer the question, “Which one should you get?” The price might just be a deciding factor in this matchup.
As you have seen in this comparison, it’s neck and neck with each phone excelling in different key areas. The Camon 30 Premier, priced at PHP 23,999, boasts a more premium build, a slightly better display with LTPO technology, and a more versatile camera with all 50-megapixel sensors both front and back.
For a thousand pesos more at PHP 24,999, the HONOR 200 fights back with a bigger battery, faster charging, a more future-proof operating system, and arguably cleaner UI aesthetics.
Ultimately, the choice depends on your individual needs and preferences. But no matter which phone you choose, you’re sure to get a great device.
