Nokia Philippines is back with a vengeance and will be doing a 1-day sale on the new Nokia X2-01 this Saturday, January 29, 2011. See poster below for details.
A total of 97 outlets nationwide will offer the Php1,000 discount on the Nokia X2 (download PDF file for list of allocated outlets).
The Nokia X2-01 was announced back in November 2010 which is an cheap, entry-level full qwerty phone.
2.4″ display @ 320 x 240 pixels
QWERTY keyboard
55MB internal storage
64MB RAM, 128MB ROM
up to 8GB via microSD
GPRS/EDGE (no 3G)
VGA camera
FM Radio
There’s no 3G or WiFi capability here but the discounted price of Php3,950 might persuade some people to try it. This might compete with the Nokia C3 though which is already in the Php5,700 range (Nokia also did a Php1k off of the C3 when it first released in the Philippines).

jedie says:
Manix says:
So, how was the event?

nokia’s really trying to make smartphones for the masses. even the cheapest of their phones have 3G and/or Wi-Fi. the ui may look outdated, but the OS is still efficient (battery life as proof, i guess). but it can’t be denied that the competition’s offering sweeter phones than before. consequently, this drives each and every mobile phone manufacturer to make phones that stand out among the rest. competition is good for the consumers (if you don’t count getting holes in your wallets). hence, all those naysayers that want apple, android OEMs, nokia, and other mobile phone manufacturers, out of the market aren’t seeing the bigger picture.
that’s looking back to the pace of mobile phone innovation from two decades ago.

Nokia C3 may pa promo pa sila dati, after one month, nag depreciate ang handset lower than the discounted price. and it’s sales is not impressive!
Ang tanong, anong meron sa C3 na wala sa X2? wala diba? instead of paying 5,000 for a C3, etong X2 na lang!
ang CHEAP na ng Nokia ngayon. unlike dati, over priced at talagang matagal mag depreciate.
uh oh, NOKIA, times have changed.

At its price range, we just couldn’t assume that it would have all those features from high end devices.. At least you get the good ol reliability tbat nokia is known for. Good enough for a second phone..

Very ordinary, I would say.

papatok ba ito? If it has WIFI, nako, I am 100 sure, wipe-out ang stocks nila nyan…but then again, no wifi…I don’t know if people will buy this unit. Maybe to some loyal Nokia users.
