Best Features of the Huawei Nova 5T

Huawei has just unveiled an addition to its Nova 5 Series, the Nova 5T. Boasting a Kirin 980 chipset and quad-cameras, check out what else Huawei’s latest device has to offer.

Display

The Nova 5T comes with an FHD+ display measuring at 6.26 inches, with a resolution of 2340 x 1080. Not only that, but the display also has thin bezels all over, made possible by not having a notch. Instead, the Nova 5T comes with a hole-punch front camera, situated at the upper left corner of the device. While the Nova 5T is not entirely a bezel-less full-screen device, it does have a screen-to-body ratio of 91.7%, allowing users to fully immerse in streaming videos and gaming.

Kirin 980 + 8GB RAM

As of writing, Kirin 980 is the latest flagship chipset by HiSilicon. It’s a step up from the Nova 3’s Kirin 970, with 980 having the better CPU and GPU overall. Powering up the Nova 5T together with Kirin 980 is an 8GB RAM, allowing users to multitask without having to worry about the device freezing or lagging.

32MP hole-punch camera

Huawei got rid of the bar notch seen in the Nova 3 and has equipped the Nova 5T with a hole-punch camera instead. The hole-punch design allows for a bigger screen to body ratio. The resolution is higher as well, compared to the Nova 3’s front camera. Huawei has stated that the 32MP selfie camera has a 4-in-1 pixel fusion, and AI tech to balance the exposure and backlight.

Quadruple cameras with 48MP main camera

The Nova 5T has four cameras mounted on the rear, composed of 16MP super wide-angle + 48MP main + 2MP depth + 2MP macro shooters. One of the Nova 5T’s main highlights is, of course, the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor. With the device’s quad-camera setup, Huawei is seemingly aiming for mobile photography enthusiasts.

Side-mounted fingerprint sensor

Gone is the Nova series’ rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Instead, the Nova 5T has the fingerprint sensor on the right-hand side. The switch in placement allows the device to have a more seamless look overall. Putting the fingerprint scanner on the side also makes it convenient for individuals to use the Nova 5T one-handed.

22.5W SuperCharge

A 3,750mAh battery capacity keeps the Nova 5T running, and along with it is support for Huawei’s 22.5W SuperCharge system. The company has stated that with the 22.5W SuperCharge, it’s possible to fill up to 50% of the device’s battery in just 30 minutes.

GPU Turbo

Along with its powerful Kirin 980 processor, the Nova 5T also has GPU Turbo in its system. The feature is mostly aimed towards gamers, as it optimizes the Nova 5T for graphics-heavy games. Together with the latest chipset and 8GB RAM, having the GPU Turbo switched on will maximize the 5T’s mobile gaming potential.
