Every year we are given the opportunity to stand in awe as companies present the latest and greatest tech they have to offer. The first wave was actually just unveiled during CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2018 last month. While some of these events are revealed via surprise announcements, like Samsung’s Galaxy S9 launch, we do have a few that have a yearly schedule. So if you’re the kind of person that loves tech and wants to keep up with the tides, then here are the biggest tech events to look forward to in 2018.

Date: February 25
What’s it about and what to expect:
As the name implies, the event is all about the grand unveiling of Samsung’s newest flagship duo for 2018 — The Galaxy S9 and S9+. Since the speculation of a CES 2018 launch, which ultimately did not happen, Samsung has been busy prepping for their first big reveal of the year.
They are so busy in fact, that we’ve already seen a few leaks and information about the two devices. In the past few weeks, consumers got a peek at the S9 and S9+’ looks, camera features, and possible pricing. Thankfully, after twelve days we’ll finally get to meet them.
Date: February 26 to March 1
What’s it about and what to expect:
The biggest mobile event of the year, MWC showcases the latest creations of various brands from smartphones to tablets and even wearables. It’s certainly the event to look forward to when it comes to the first big mobile announcements of the year. Unless of course, you announce earlier. We’re looking at you Samsung.
Date: June 5 to 9
What’s it about and what to expect:
If MWC is the biggest event for mobile, then Computex is the biggest event for the anything computer related. This is where we get to see the latest innovations and powerhouses in the computing world. Which includes everything from desktop components to All In Ones (AIO) to laptops. If you are part of the PC master race, then this is the event to keep an eye on.
Date: August 31 to September 5
What’s it about and what to expect:
IFA signals the end of major tech events for the year. It’s the last hoorah for brands to impress consumers before the year closes. Although, it’s certainly not something you’d want to miss, as you get to see some of the most captivating technological gizmos the tech world has been working on for the past months.
The event is a mixed bag of gadgets and appliances. It’s basically the event for the masses where anything and everything under the sun are introduced.
While not necessarily an avenue for releasing new tech, apart from consoles and console accessories that is, there are some notable gaming events that occur yearly.
Date: June 12 to 14
What’s it about and what to expect:
The single biggest gaming event of the year, E3 is where gaming companies reveal their latest gifts to the gaming world. This could range from sequels of previous titles to new games, or even the birth of a new franchise. There are also times when we see new consoles get revealed, as well as some new innovative accessories. It is certainly the event to watch out for when you are part of the gaming community.

What’s it about and what to expect:
ESGS is the biggest Southeast Asian gaming event of the year, which also happens to be based here in the Philippines. Like with E3, it’s a gathering of game developers and tech brands to showcase their latest titles and gadgets.
It’s also a venue for local and international tournaments and sometimes even job opportunities. It’s the most accessible gaming event for our local gamers.
Date: December
What’s it about and what to expect:
The Golden Globes, Emmys, Oscars, Tonys, and Grammys of the gaming world. The Game Awards is an event that honors the best and brightest gaming titles of the year. Not only that, it’s an avenue for gaming companies to reveal new or additional information about their upcoming games or even the new updates and expansions to their current ones.
The event is also notorious for hosting the most jaw-dropping surprises that game developers have been cooking up. It’s a night where gamers get to cheer for their beloved titles.
