The Infinix HOT 50 Pro Plus is hailed as the world’s slimmest gaming smartphone with a 3D-Curved SlimEdge Design. It’s also the first entry-level priced device to be equipped with a MediaTek Helio G100 chipset.
Aside from being an insanely slim phone, it also packs other notable features that may catch readers by surprise. This includes what’s put into its cameras, design, and performance.
Plus, readers can get this device at under PHP 8,000 only. With great features and an even better price point, let’s find out what else the phone offers.
Table of Contents
Considering how much the phone is, it’s equipped with surprisingly great cameras. The device has dual-rear shooters which include a 50-megapixel main paired with a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
The cameras can record up to 2K resolution at 30 fps. At the front, it has a 13-megapixel camera as well. Additionally, it comes with a neat, user-friendly AI Eraser tool to help users stay social media ready.
The rear cameras fare well, even with just a bit of light. It can take some nice shots with good detail and vibrant colors. Even the selfies turned out better than I expected from an entry-level device.
If users find clutter in their shots, it can also be remedied by Infinix’s AI Eraser. From experience, I think it does pretty well. For context, I think that if it could remove electrical wiring in between a subject and their background, it’s great.
As mentioned, it’s also user-friendly, so kudos to Infinix for that. It lets users choose a brush size for the eraser and zooms in on what you need to clean.
Honestly, users get a ton of value for money from the cameras alone. I’d rate this segment a solid 10/10, factoring in things like price, usability, and intuitiveness.
This is the first device under its price to be equipped with a MediaTek Helio G100 chipset. Supporting this is an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
As a gaming smartphone, I expected it to handle games well. While it did deliver, It does heat up a bit for graphics intensive games like Genshin. To be fair though, it didn’t feel that concerning.
I also played games like Teamfight Tactics, League of Legends: Wild Rift, and PUBG Mobile on the device. These games have varying levels of processing power, and the device did well on all of them.
For Wild Rift though, I felt like it was pretty consistent. Users can raise graphic settings on the device without worrying about performance dips, battery draining too fast, or frame drops.
With that, I highly recommend this device for MOBA games in particular. Games like Mobile Legends and Honor of Kings should fare exceptionally on this device. After my time with the phone, it’s no wonder that it has a box sleeve and wallpaper featuring HOK.
For those worried about future-proofing, the phone is also rated for five (5) years of TUV fluency. This means that the phone can keep up the same level of performance, even after five years. Wrapping up, we’ll leave our synthetic benchmark scores below for those interested.
The phone boasts a smooth, curved 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It’s also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which we don’t see that often for entry-level devices.
Personally, the display size feels perfect. The curved display with tapered edges gives off a premium feel. This is also complemented by its dual stereo speakers with JBL audio.
Safe to say, Infinix definitely didn’t skimp on features when developing this phone. In terms of how it fared, it peaks at 1,300 nits of brightness. This makes it good to use under direct sunlight.
My practical use includes Netflix binges, catching up on my favorite YouTubers, and some gaming sessions. In comparison to devices under (or above) its price range, the display quality this phone has is superb.
To elaborate, most devices priced under PHP 8,000 often have an IPS LCD panel. Considering this phone has an AMOLED panel, it offers deeper blacks, vibrant colors, and drains less battery.
If we consider that AMOLED panels offer deeper blacks and are less battery-hungry, then it’s pretty much a no-contest. The curved display and tapered edges certainly made for more of an appealing experience as well.
At first glance, I’m sure most readers have noticed that the phone sports square-shaped cameras. It’s a fresh design when compared to most smartphones that have round camera modules.
Diving into detail, the phone has a slim 6.8mm profile and weighs just 162 grams. With how the phone is, I’m sure readers might be thinking—how does a 5,000mAh battery fit into the device?
The Infinix HOT 50 Pro+ was made with TitanWing Architecture. This is how the company was able to develop a great middleground for both function and form.
The motherboard was engineered to be 24% smaller, the battery 6.4% thinner, and the speakers 20% thinner. Asides from that, the insides are also fitted with Ultra-Crystaline Graphite cooling.
Additionally, the phone has an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance. This is complemented by its protection against wet or greasy touches and overall scratch resistance. For those worried about drops, Infinix notes that the phone is backed by six-sided anti-drop durability.
Side note, apart from this Titanium Grey colorway, the phone is also available in either Sleek Black or Dreamy Purple.
The Infinix HOT 50 Pro Plus is undoubtedly a steal. If readers are on a budget and need a device that can do the most, look no further.
The phone excels in a lot of areas, even those that it wasn’t built for. It’s nice that an entry-level gaming smartphone can do well for photography and media consumption.
The Infinix HOT 50 Pro+ is now available with a suggested retail price of PHP 8,499. This comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. We also recommend readers to check out the Infinix HOT 50 and Infinix HOT 50i.
