With the launch of the OPPO Find X8 in the Philippines, the brand’s flagship lineup of smartphones are finally here in the country. It’s one model that we’ve been highly anticipating ever since we got our hands on the OPPO Find X7 Ultra earlier this year.
But just what makes the OPPO Find X8 special? Well, there are a lot – from its very capable Hasselblad-tuned cameras, to its powerful chipset, and even its AI features integrated into ColorOS 15. Below, we’ll list them all down in detail to give you an idea of what this phone is capable of, and how it’s one of the leading camera phones today.
Table of Contents
There’s no doubt our favorite feature of the OPPO Find X8 are the cameras. At the rear, you have a triple camera system with three 50MP lenses, all of which have AF support. You have a 50MP main shooter that uses a 1/1.56-inch sensor with f/1.8 aperture and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).
It’s then followed by another 50MP 3x Periscope-Telephoto camera running a large 1/1.95-inch sensor with f/2.6 aperture, and is also equipped with OIS. Last but not least is a 50MP ultrawide camera featuring a 1/2.75-inch sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
With that, you’re well-equipped to shoot whatever subject matter you can think of. Whether you want to capture portraits of friends, landscapes, or even something very far away, you’re well equipped to do so with the OPPO Find X8.
With the large sensors in all three cameras, you can be sure the details will be retained in your photos. No matter what the lighting condition, you will have sharp photos with clear cut-offs and a nice bokeh. In portrait mode, the images look similar to being taken using a prime lens with a high aperture.
The colors are great too; not too vibrant and still look natural to what your eyes see. At the same time, you get great contrast and clarity, which gives the image a natural HDR look similar to how a DSLR captures images. Some of you will even find these more than adequate to upload on social media without the need for editing.
Just take a look at the photos I was able to capture from my hotel room at Swissotel in Clark – starting from the wide angle up to 30x zoom.
Even at 30x zoom, the mountains in the background remain detailed, and the same goes for the buildings. Mind you, I haven’t even maxed out the zoom at this point which is capable of up to 120x.
However, shooting in well-lit conditions is just one part of the equation. What about shooting in low light? Well, that’s another area where the cameras of the Find X8 excel.
Thanks to the larger sensors in all three of the rear cameras, you get to capture more detail at night. More importantly, there’s a lot less grain too. As a result, the images don’t look like they were taken using a potato. Instead, it looks something like what you’d see from using a mirrorless camera.
Whether you’re using the main camera, the ultrawide, or even the zoom lens, you’re bound to capture amazing low-light images. You can also adjust the camera accordingly with Smart Scenes.
But what if you want to record videos? The OPPO Find X8 has you covered as well. Both the front and rear cameras are capable of recording up to 4K 60FPS maximum. Best of all, when using the Ultra Steady mode, the resolution doesn’t drop down either. As a result, you no longer have to drop the video quality when shooting cinematic footage; everything remains 4K resolution.
Speaking of quality, the 4K video is similar to what you’d see in the images. Everything is sharp and clear with nice vibrant colors. It even captures footage in 10-bit Dolby HDR, which makes it one of the few smartphones that can do it.
For those who want to vlog or do tracking videos, the camera has a very smart autofocus too. This allows users to track the subject even if it’s moving or if the person holding the camera is moving around. Paired with the amazing stabilization function, you no longer need to bring a gimbal around.
In fact, the capabilities of the OPPO Find X8 make it a great alternative to bringing a mirrorless or even a DSLR around. You get to capture similar images and video, without the hassle of pulling out an entirely different camera. With the Find X8, just use your phone instead.
We already know that the photos taken by the OPPO Find X8 are great out of the box. But not everyone is perfect, and sometimes it’s the user that makes the mistake; whether it’s with the focus, framing, or even accidental photobombers in the image.
But with ColorOS 15, which is based on the new Android 15, you have AI Editor in the settings that can help enhance or even alter the images. It’s here where you can find AI Eraser, AI Unblur, AI Remove Reflections, and AI Clarity Enhancer.
The feature I used the most was AI Eraser, which is also the most helpful for aspiring photographers. It helps you get rid of people in the shot or even those nasty powerlines in the background. It’s easy to use too, especially if you have tried the AI Eraser function on other phones.
But what’s surprising on the Find X8 is the ability to automatically remove people in the background. You no longer need to individually erase each person, and instead the app does it all for you.
Then there’s the AI Unblur function, which is very helpful if you’re shooting something that’s moving, and the camera didn’t focus right. It helps a lot in removing motion blur, but of course, there are limitations. If most of the image is fully blurred, then it can’t really help you there.
Removing reflections is easy too with AI Remove Reflection. It is especially helpful when you’re shooting outdoors or with multiple light sources by automatically removing the glare on the glass without you having to individually choose. Lastly, there’s the AI Clarity Enhancer function that acts like an HDR feature.
But outside of editing images, there are other AI features on the OPPO Find X8 that can help make your life easier such as AI Assistant for Notes and AI Writer.
The most useful one in Notes is Clean Up, which automatically polishes your writing and corrects grammar mistakes. It’s helpful if you’re writing down notes in a hurry, and don’t really care about having correct grammar.
From there, you can also use Continue Writing, which can write the rest of the text for you based on what you have initially written. Afterwards, you can automatically format it in a way that makes it easier for you to read.
As for AI Writer, you can think of it as the OPPO Find X8’s version of ChatGPT. You can just write prompts, and it can automatically compose everything for you. It works too for replying to texts, and can even summarize everything for you.
The same summarize function also applies when opening documents. It can even translate documents too, if you normally deal with clients from other countries. Of course with ColorOS 15, you have Gemini too and other Google AI functions.
All of these AI features and even the powerful cameras wouldn’t be possible without a capable chipset under the hood. The OPPO Find X8 packs a MediaTek Dimensity 9400, which is one of the most capable chipsets on the market today. It comes with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
With this, you can effortlessly run all of the AI features, take photos, and play games all you want. There’s no need to worry about the phone slowing down at all.
With a large 5630 mAh battery pack, it can also last a long time without needing to recharge. It even comes with 80W SUPERVOOCTM fast wired charging and 50W AIRVOOCTM wireless charging. This means more up time and less downtime as well. Let’s not forget the phone’s beautiful design, and its 6.59-inch AMOLED display.
Everything combined helps make the OPPO Find X8 the great smartphone that it is. And if you’re interested in this phone, it is now widely available in the Philippines. You can also check it out at OPPO stores nationwide to see for yourself.
Thinking of buying one for the upcoming season? The OPPO Find X8 retails for PHP 54,999USD 937INR 79,452EUR 893CNY 6,825, and you can order them from OPPO stores, and the brand’s official online store in Lazada, Shopee, and Tiktok.
