One of the first things you’ll notice about the vivo V21 series is its design. The vivo V21 5G features a straight side frame that looks industrial yet classy and premium. It measures only 7.29mm thin and weighs a light 176g. The vivo V21e 4G, on the other hand, has a smooth rounded frame, resembling a pebble. It’s also thin at 7.38mm and even lighter at 171g.
At first glance, you might think that the two devices are identical. But you can immediately tell the difference in the colors. The vivo V21 5G comes in Dusk Blue and Sunset Dazzle with AG Matte Glass, which looks like frosted glass with a nice shimmer.
The vivo V21e 4G, on the other hand, comes in Roman Black with vertical lines, and Diamond Flare with AG Glass, which projects exciting diamond patterns.
Both devices sport 6.44-inch screens with Full HD+ resolution at 409ppi and AMOLED panels. The V21 5G has HDR10+ certification while the V21e 4G HDR10. What this means is that you’re getting immersive hi-res screens that are vibrant with punchy colors and deep blacks, which is what you need if you like viewing photos, watching videos, or playing games.
Those who are looking for a smooth experience when scrolling or navigating around the UI will enjoy the 90Hz refresh rate on the V21 5G.
Powering the vivo V21 5G is a MediaTek Dimensity 800U chip with a 2.4GHz octa-core CPU and Mali-G57 MC3 GPU. The vivo V21e 4G, on the other hand, uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chip with a 2.3GHz octa-core CPU and Adreno 618 GPU.
Both are powerful configurations capable of delivering their features and handling plenty of applications including games. In addition, they’re running on FunTouch OS 11.1 based on Android 11. For its AnTuTu v8 score at Kimovil.com, the vivo V21 5G got a score of 343,150, while the vivo V21e 4G got a score of 323,000.
When it comes to memory, both have 8GB RAM and use a technology called Extended RAM. What it means is that the vivo V21 5G and V21e 4G can tap on the storage space and allocate 3GB to the current RAM. This feature allows the smartphones to have more apps and services in the background and run them smoothly.
For storage, both have 128GB. However, the V21e 4G has a dedicated microSD card slot, unlike the V21 5G that uses a hybrid setup.
The vivo V21 5G and V21e 4G pack triple-rear cameras consisting of a 64MP main, 8MP ultra-wide, and 2MP macro. This configuration makes the devices versatile in shooting different kinds of subjects, but there’s more to them.
The V21 5G has OIS, 4K Video, Eye Autofocus, Super Night mode, Ultra-Wide Night, Ultra Stable Video, Super Macro, Bokeh Portrait, and Multi-Style Portrait. The V21e 4G, on the other hand, has the same features except for OIS.
vivo is known for its selfie technology and the V21 series gets a high-resolution sensor at 44MP with AF, which means you’ll get really sharp and bright self-portraits.
For features, the V21 5G has Night, AI Night Portrait, Eye Autofocus, 4K Video, Ultra Stable Video, Light Filters, Kid Face Beauty, Beauty Mark Retention, Head Slimming, Double Exposure, Video Face Beauty, and Dual-View Video.
What makes it stand out more compared to other smartphones is its Dual Selfie Spotlight, which is two LED flashes embedded in the bezel so you can take selfie photos and videos in the dark.
For the V21e 4G, it has AI Night Portrait, 4K Video, Steadiface, Portrait light effect, Video Face Beauty, and Dual-View Video. It doesn’t have the Dual Selfie Spotlight but it has Super Night Selfie for brighter selfies in low-light.
The two devices got basic connectivity features. There’s dual-SIM, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.1, USB-C, and SatNavs. For biometrics, we have in-display fingerprint scanners.
What will separate the two, though, is mobile data connectivity. As the name of the devices suggests, the V21 5G has 5G connectivity, while the V21e 4G connects on 4G LTE.
Both devices are packed with the same 4,000mAh battery with 33W FlashCharge to refill the battery to 63% in just 30 minutes . But the battery life could be different given the different chipset and mobile data features.
The vivo V21 5G is priced at PHP 23,999USD 409INR 34,669EUR 390CNY 2,978, while the vivo V21e 4G is at PHP 17,999USD 307INR 26,001EUR 292CNY 2,234, so you’re probably asking…
