There are a lot of things to be excited about with the new vivo V30 Pro 5G. The successor to the highly acclaimed vivo V29 series underwent some major changes on the outside, featuring a new design language, which gives a more premium look and feel.
The biggest, and possibly the most important changes vivo made to the V30 Pro 5G, can be found inside. There’s a new, more powerful chipset, a larger battery, and as expected from the Aura Portrait Master 3.0, a new triple rear camera setup designed in collaboration with ZEISS. Yes, you can now use the ZEISS color profile when shooting images and more.
Table of Contents
On the vivo V30 Pro 5G, the ZEISS triple main camera is highlighted by a 50MP f/1.88 main shooter. But it’s not just any 50MP sensor. It uses Sony’s new highly capable IMX920 1/1.49″ sensor, which takes stunning images. It’s also the largest sensor ever fitted into the V series lineup.
Moreover, vivo even calls it a VCS True Color main camera wherein VCS stands for vivo Camera-Bionic Spectrum. With the help of VCS technology, color accuracy is enhanced, making your images more true to life. In addition, the tech also helps when you’re shooting at night. To help prevent motion blur and capture bright and clear images at night, the main camera comes with optical image stabilization or OIS.
The result? You can capture some stunning images that are sharp, clear, and color-accurate even if you’re not that great at photography. Whether you’re taking portrait photos, landscape, night photography, or whatever you can think of, the powerful Sony IMX920 main shooter has you covered.
Moving on to the next camera on the vivo V30 Pro 5G, it’s the 50MP f/1.85 telephoto lens. As you would expect, vivo didn’t just fit any telephoto lens. No, it features another Sony sensor – the IMX816.
Aside from having more pixels compared to its predecessor, the 50MP telephoto lens on the vivo V30 Pro 5G doubles as a great portrait camera. It features a 50mm focal length, which is not only great for portrait photography but also helps create more realistic and vivid portraits.
It also allows you to get some really nice bokeh when using zoom while taking portrait photos. Pair it with the new, more powerful Aura Light 3.0 system and you can capture some really moody photos in almost any kind of lighting situation.
Since it’s also a telephoto lens, you also have great zoom capabilities. You have up to 20x zoom to work with on the vivo V30 Pro, and even at maximum zoom, the image quality is rather decent. You can still make out the details of whatever it is you’re taking photos of.
Last but not least we have the new 50MP f/2.0 ultrawide camera which uses the JN1 sensor. The majority of phones on the market don’t have the best ultrawide camera for capturing landscape photos, and you can tell by the time you hit 0.5x or 0.6x. But with the vivo V30 Pro 5G, that will not be an issue.
As a result, you still get great dynamic range and the image quality doesn’t drop when compared to using the main camera. By using a larger sensor for the ultrawide, this also means you can get some stunning photos at night or in low-light conditions. At the same time, you can be sure the colors will come out great.

In terms of the design of the phone, vivo made the V30 Pro 5G a lot slimmer and sleeker. It only measures 7.45mm thin in comparison to the vivo V29 5G which already measures 7.5mm thin. The new thinner design does lend to the phone looking and feeling a lot more premium.
But despite that, vivo managed to bump up the battery size from before. From the previous 4,700mAh on the V29 series, the V30 Pro 5G now packs a 5,000mAh battery pack. The results? You get really long battery life, allowing you to use it more. For reference, it scored a total of 17 hours and 48 mins using PCMark’s battery test, which is really great result for this phone.
When you do need to recharge the phone, you also have 80W fast charging at your disposal. Less downtime, more time on the go with the vivo V30 Pro 5G.
Aside from the new battery, the other upgrade vivo made to the V30 Pro 5G is the chipset. It packs a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset along with 12GB of RAM with up to 12GB of Dynamic Ram expansion and 512GB of storage.
The Dimensity 8200 is known for being very capable of handling tasks, but it’s gamers who will enjoy using it the most. The vivo V30 Pro 5G can run graphic-intensive titles easily without any issues. To give you an idea, it can run Genshin Impact at max graphics and 60FPS, and you won’t experience any framerate drops or slowing down.
So if you do want to unwind from a day of capturing content on the vivo V30 Pro 5G by playing games, you can do so without any issues. For a better reference though, here are the benchmark scores of the vivo V30 Pro 5G.
