What are the most important smartphone features for you?

Whenever a new smartphone comes out, regardless of whether it’s a flagship, mid-range, or entry-level, many consumers would express their dissatisfaction about it. That’s understandable considering that every person has different needs and wants. But let’s say you’re asked to list down the most important smartphone features for you, what would you write down? I’ve asked myself the same question and here’s my answer.

1. Price

First on the list is price and is probably the most improtant factor to consider as it will determine my choices. Of course, the bigger the budget, the wider the options. But in my case, I’d choose the device that can provide the most specs at the lowest price possible. Good thing plenty of smartphone brands are aiming for that as well.

2. Quality

Coming second is quality as I’d be using it for at least a couple of years. I’m not saying that devices should be made of glass and metal. Sure, I want that premium treatment, but I’m more concerned about how well it was built. It could be made of plastic but as long as it is solid and doesn’t creak, doesn’t have light bleeds or dead pixels, no paint chipping or fading, and doesn’t easily bend, then I’m good with it. As for durability, not a lot of smartphones in the market can withstand severe drops, but I’d want those that can at least resist water and dust, so a good IP rating is a plus.

3. Cameras

I have already ditched my digital camera in favor of smartphones for daily photography, so next in my priority are good cameras. I don’t really care much about the number of pixels or sensors or 4K video recording, but as long as it is good in low-light, and can produce images with accurate colors and plenty of details, that’s good enough for me.

4. Battery

What’s the point of having a smartphone that’s good with photography if it can’t last a whole day. That’s why the battery is next as the most essential feature. Personally, my minimum would be 4,000mAh so that I don’t have to worry about not having my power bank with me at all times. As for charging, any fast charging tech is fine as long as it doesn’t take me 3 hours just to bring it to full capacity.

5. Performance

Fourth would be performance and most of the time that would mean a flagship chipset with at least 6GB of RAM. But in my case, I can settle with a good mid-range chip with 4GB RAM. This kind of configuration is already good enough for most needs, and there’s plenty of options in the market, too! But if you can get a flagship device at a premium mid-range price, then that’s a good deal. As for the software, I’d prefer the latest. At the time of writing, we have Android Q on the way so Android Pie should be a good starter.

6. Storage

Lastly, we have storage. I’m glad that mid-range phones nowadays are getting larger storage variants. In my case, 128GB is a must if the phone doesn’t have expandable storage. But if it does, I’d settle for 64GB then just purchase a microSD card and use Cloud storage for my photos and videos.

I’m not sure what my favorite phone is I’ve had all kinds of different ones and now I have a motog6 phone and I’m not impressed with it don’t know anything about it and now it’s just something I used to lesne to music and that’s all

Top must always be connection quality so i hear clearly. A pbone is primarjly for phone calls. Surprised its not on list

For me, battery size is the primary concern.
Then it would be physical size, as I want my phone to be pocketable (stored in my pants front pockets).
So I can only use phones as high as 5.5 inches; any higher than that, I will need to store it elsewhere, i.e. in a bag.
