Soon after Microsoft officially released IE9, Mozilla also made a major release with Firefox 4. Within a day, FF4 doubled IE9’s downloads at 7 million. Bus is that enough?
I downloaded FF4 a week ago on my Mac and then on my PC a few days ago when I got back.
The new FF4, while better in the back-end and a few more, did not have that very obvious face-lift compared to the previous version (the way IE9 had changed compared to IE8).
So I’ll just throw the question to those who have been using FF a lot — is it really better, is it faster, and what’s the coolest new additions you liked best?

I’m a Microsoft employee but I use FF4. Love the new look and speed. ^_^
Gerald says:
It’s definitely faster.
angelo says:
Firefox is faster than its predecessor but very slow compared to the chrome, from start up to loading and rendering of pages..
Abram John Limpin says:
Downloading and installing Mozilla Firefox 4 wasn’t a mistake!
I feel Safari-ish when I saw the UI, but still lagging when I tried to play a game here:

FF4 looks and feels like a poor man’s Chrome. Nice try Mozilla.
frenchy says:
FF4 really seems faster than Chrome and IE9, but because it isn’t compatible yet with the plugins that I use for my work, I had to revert it to FF3.6. However, I am using IE9 now for my regular surfing.

firefox4.0 in windows 7 is faster than firefox4.0 snow leopard.

Ever heard of PaleMoon? :-D
Jon says:
Definitely better. Faster and less of a resource hog. In the office, the terminal I use runs XP. Firefox 3 and other previous versions hogs a lot of RAM after a while. Memory leak issues. Now with version 4, it is definitely faster. I also like the new interface.
I would have gone with Chrome a long time ago if it weren’t for some of the plugins/addons I use. Glad to see that this version is definitely an improvement. The best feature I like with this is Firefox sync. Now, I can access my tabs, history, bookmarks from my office PC anywhere, even on my Android phone, as long as you have Firefox mobile installed. :)
Rey says:
WEEE!!! May alternative browser na ako para sa IE9. Well para sa akin, as a modem user, mas mabilis ang IE9 kumpara sa FF4. I’m not using Chrome anymore.

Talagang madodoble niya ang downloads on ng IE9. IE9 is not compatible for XP. It’s exclusively for Windows 7. It works great on 7! I’m using it right now
paul says:
ummm… not really exclusive. it also works with Vista. but yes, it won’t work with XP.
Gumz says:
fastest… customizable…
adam says:
It’s faster as compared to its old version.
Nonoy says:
Yes, it’s faster.
notAlone says:
Yup, FF4 is definitely faster than FF3.x. For those having problems with their addons, just install the FF extension Addon Compatibility Checker (http://bit.ly/gp3FLr). Most of the time, the “old” addons still have complete functionality, their devs just haven’t certified it to be FF4
Totem says:
Yep.. It’s much faster than 3.6 and less likely to crash.. The reason why I choose Firefox over Chrome is because of the add-ons and rendering of pages as well..
goodha67 says:
tried ff4 and the layout is similar to chrome. switched back to ff 3.6.16 because half of my important add ons did not work on ff4. ive noticed also ff4 did have less crashes than previous ff version nevertheless both had faster restore of pages. my 2c worth.

I’m using Firefox 3.x.x before but switch to Google’s Chrome due to I find the latter more faster compared to Firefox.
Will download FF4 to see if it’s really faster than Chrome.

when I downloaded it, Greasemonkey wasn’t compatible with it yet. That may have changed since then, but there may be compatibility issues with older extensions and scripts like that.
Using a small netbook, I do appreciate the extra real estate. They did a good job reorganizing everything so that you can still access the bookmarks but you still have a lot of space carried over.
FF4 also seems less likely to crash, although I haven’t really put it through the wringer. I still use Chrome first though. It’s still ahead in terms of speed and stability.
Regnard Raquedan says:
Mozilla Firefox 4 is obviously super fast, from starting up to loading pages.
Cool additions are the sleek interface and Sync feature. :)
Benchmark says:
Right now I am using FF4! It got a little facelift. I tried using the tab views…its great, if you are an addict surfer (a lot of tabs as I could say).
I notice that it is much faster than the old FF.
