I used to be a gambling addict when I was a kid. I learned playing Pusoy when I was 7. Played professional mah jhong at 12. So when indie Pinoy game developer Rico Zuniga sent me a tip about this local game he developed, I spent over 3 hours playing tong-its.
Basically, it’s a tong-its game developed on Adobe Air. Tong-its is a local cards game similar to pusoy dos, poker and mah jhong. I’m sure a lot of my Filipino readers here are very familiar with it.
After about 78 rounds, I won 29 games and was on the top of the 3-player table. I think I would have won more rounds had I noticed an oversight on my end earlier. If you’re an avid cards player, you’d have fun with this one.
You will need to download and install Adobe’s Flex/AIR before you can run Tong-Its 1.0 from your PC.
I really have to say that beyond the intuitive drag-and-drop interface, I loved playing with the AI (artificial intelligence). It was very challenging (though after several dozen rounds, I kinda got to know how the two other players cook their strategy that I’ve been able to predict when they will draw). But you guys have to try this. Props to Rico for a job well done.
Hi guys, I have great news. I just slashed the price from $15 down to $10! I’m also giving away 50% discount coupon codes for a limited time. This brings the price down to just $5!
Visit the site for more info and read the Tongits blog for the latest updates.
It’s nice to know that a local game of “tong-its” is now being developed using the latest technology.
Finally, there’s something online the average, non-techie, Pinoy adult can get hooked on.
Cool! I’m definitely gonna try out this game. Btw, is it compatible with Vista?
Galing ah.. galing talaga ng mga pinoy developer
yan lang ang alam kong laruin sa baraha. ayos!
Astig! I remember there was a Tong Its program available for download about two years ago. In college our project was to make a Solitaire program in Java during our first year, then in fourth year it was a networked/multiplayer Pusoy Dos. :D I think schools should really look at new technologies like Adobe AIR because they make integration between the desktop and the web so much smoother.
I don’t want to start playing the game because I do not want to get addicted to it. Its still a nice porting of a filipino card game though.
cool! hehehe
i love tongits!
taga pinas ba ang nag develop ? or sa India talga/?
maganda kung may hi-score list uploaded somewhere
this is quite good and can easily become addicting. :-D
I like to play with myself ;-] Anyone want to play with me? lol…
cmon’ who’s gonna play with me? hehehehe joke….
wow..astig yan a…=]
This could be something the developer can profit from! Sell the program to online casino sites and get royalties… Hmmm…
