EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro Portable Power Station Review

Power banks have become an essential gadget accessory for anyone. Almost everyone has one or two at home or they carry to school or office. Some are even powerful enough to charge your laptop.

There’s a new class of power banks that can even power up big devices and appliances. They’re often called power stations which can carry a much bigger charge of up to 220 volts. That includes laptops, TVs, printers, electric fans, big lights, and even a satellite dish.

The first time we unboxed it, we thought of charging it overnight at the office so that when we come back the next morning for our team summer outing, it would be fully charged.

Little did we expect that this power station can recharge in just a little over an hour! So before we shut off for the day and left the office, it’s all fully charged and ready for our trip the next day.

The reason why we got the EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro is to pair it with our Starlink satellite kit (Mobile plan) and basically bring both of them practically anywhere we go, especially on road trips or camping trips.

The River 2 Pro comes with a lot of power options — 3 x USB Type-A, 1 x USB Type-C and 3 AC outlets. Take note though that the AC plugs are Type C power plugs (2 circular holes) so you might need an adapter for that when you plug in your appliances.

There are several scenarios we can think of that would really benefit taking an EcoFlow power station with you.

You need to charge up multiple mobile devices. The RIVER 2 Pro can basically charge 3 smartphones via the Type-A charging port, one more with the Type-C port and 3 more using the regular power plugs. Alternatively, you can charge up to 4 laptops with this set up (3 via the regular power plug and one more via the Type-C port).
Power up three (3) large devices via the 220V plug. In our first camping trip with the team, we were able to power up one gaming laptop, our Starlink satellite dish and a TV all at the same time.
Serve as backup power at home or the office when there’s a brownout. This could run your WiFi router for about 32 hours continuously or it can recharge your smartphone over 41 times in a single full charge.

The 4 outlets have a 800W total capacity, while the 3 USB Type-A ports can handle 5V, 2.4A, 12W Max per port; the single USB Type-C port can do 5/9/12/15/20V, 5A with 100W Max power.

There are a number of ways that you can recharge the EcoFlow power station. The most common is thru your AC outlet at home. It takes just around 70 minutes to full recharge this with that method.

The 2nd is using your 12V/24V 8A car charger (there’s an adaptor that came with it) and 3rd is via the solar charger (solar panel sold separately, 220W @ 11-50V 13A Max).

The least common way, and probably the slowest, is via the USB Type-C port.

The device also comes with an Android or iPhone app which connects via Bluetooth and allows you to remotely manage and update your EcoFlow device anytime.

All-in-all, the River 2 Pro is a very powerful and capable power station. It’s full potential can also be harnessed if you pair it with a solar panel for charging in the outdoors — you’ll never run out of power even if you are off-the-grid for days or even weeks. Campers and road-warriors will definitely find the EcoFlow River 2 Pro a must-have accessory in all their trips.
