Last September 9, Apple introduced the newest AirPods Pro 2 with its groundbreaking hearing aid feature.
This feature is said to let users/ people get assistance for hearing loss. And on Thursday, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted the brand a green signal to release it in the market.
“Hearing loss is a significant public health issue impacting millions of Americans,” said Michelle Tarver, the acting director of the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health.
Tarver added Apple’s software “advances the availability, accessibility and acceptability of hearing support for adults with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss.”
The AirPods Pro 2 enables hearing protection mode for users to safeguard their hearing health from deteriorating loud environments and noise. In addition, owners of the second-gen AirPods Pro may also access the Hearing Test via Apple’s Health app.
This hearing aid functionality built-in with the AirPods Pro 2 is bound to lessen the stigma and provide a much more affordable cost, situated at $249 (PHP 13K), to consumers looking for hearing aids.
Apple’s request application was reviewed under De Novo Classification 14, which legally allows the product- AirPods Pro 2 to hit the market.
