GITEX GLOBAL ‘24: AI, deep tech redefine healthcare at GITEX DIGI_HEALTH 5.0

GITEX GLOBAL’s DIGI_HEALTH 5.0 in Dubai brought together healthcare pioneers and tech enthusiasts to explore the transformative power of artificial intelligence or AI in medicine.

The event showcased cutting-edge solutions that are set to revolutionize patient care globally — aligning with the UAE government’s push to advance the digital health ecosystem. The country’s projected market reach for digital health is USD 487.30PHP 28,597INR 41,299EUR 464CNY 3,547 million by the end of 2024.

Pioneering examples included Denis Ledenkof, founder of Robosculptor, who showcased an AI-powered robotic platform for personalized patient care.

Alex Aliper, co-founder of Insilico Medicine, discussed how AI-powered precision medicine is transforming genetic profiles, paving the way for new treatments.

Next, Dr. Aneesh Singhal of Massachusetts General Hospital presented the Golden Bridge II trial, demonstrating that AI can significantly reduce stroke risk.

Jong-Soo Choi, CTO of Samsung Medical Centre, shared insights into how Remote Patient Monitoring and gene therapy are shaping the future of healthcare.

Xpanceo showcases its smart contact lens

Dubai’s deep tech company, Xpanceo, unveiled smart contact lenses for 3D imaging and data reading among others.

One in particular can be used for seeing holographic images. While it was difficult to capture on camera, the contact lenses, serve like regular 3D glasses and the person has to look at a modified screen to perceive a 3D image.

Xpanceo says their research and development for smart contact lenses just started in 2021, with other prototypes are capable for augmented reality, data reading, and intraocular pressure (IOP) sensing.

There’s also Oracle Health that showcased its AI-powered Clinical Digital Assistant, which streamlines doctor-patient interactions and automates documentation.

Furthermore, GITEX GLOBAL also announced the GITEX DIGI_HEALTH 5.0 Expo-Summit in Thailand set for September 2025 — also highlighting the growing focus on digital health solutions in Asia.
