HMD eyes Nokia Lumia revival… with Android OS of course

HMD has had a major rebrand and become independent as a phone brand, remaining the official licensee of the Nokia brand. Possibly one of their strategies to elevate their brand presence is the revival of the Nokia Lumia line.

A new rumor suggests that the company is working on a new Nokia Lumia phone powered by, of course, Android operating system. Some users on X argue that a Lumia without Windows isn’t truly a “Lumia” — while this is a valid point, HMD’s choice is likely necessary to adapt to current market standards.

Early renders of the phone have already surfaced online (courtesy of Mukul Sharma on X). These renders showcase the classic Lumia “Fabula” design.

Sharma also shared the expected key specifications of the upcoming Lumia phone, codenamed “Tomcat”.

HMD with its major rebrand has already released its own line of smartphones, namely the Pulse 38 Series 34. On top of that, they’re still making feature phones, with the Nokia 200 Series 4G 49 being their latest offerings.
