Japanese peripherals manufacturer Elecom has become the first company to have their USB4 2.0 cables certified. This year, Elecom has made two types of USB Type-C cables that have stood out.
These include a USB4 2.0 cable with 80Gbps transfer speed and 60W of power delivery. The other cable is also USB4 2.0 with the same transfer speed, but it offers 240W of power delivery.
The cables are set to launch in mid-December this year.
For those curious, USB4 2.0 is the successor to USB4. The latter can be found on modern motherboards, gaming handhelds, etc. The USB4 standard is common on

Moreover, the faster power delivery should give smaller power adapters the chance to work for gaming laptops. Plus, the new USB4 ports also support DisplayPort for 8K displays at 60Hz.
At the time of writing, Microsoft has already begun testing USB4 2.0 for their Windows11 Insider Preview Build. I should note that USB4 2.0 was first introduced in 2022. However, this year is marked as the first sign of progress for implementing it on modern hardware.
