HUAWEI Pocket 2 now official: the first flip phone with four rear cameras

Huawei recently announced the HUAWEI Pocket 2, marking a first for flip phones by boasting a quad-camera setup. It also features a new hinge design that significantly reduces the gap between its folding display.

The HUAWEI Pocket 2 retains the design aesthetics of the Pocket S. At the top cover protrudes two circular modules: one housing four cameras and another for its 1.15-inch LTPO OLED mini display.

The camera system consists of a 50-megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with OIS, and a unique 2-megapixel “hyperspectral” camera.

Huawei claims the hyperspectral camera can detect UV intensity, potentially prompting users to apply sunscreen, and may even be able to identify deeper sunspots.

When folded, the device is remarkably thin, measuring only 7.25mm for the glass variant and 7.35mm for the leather option. Similar to the HUAWEI P60 Pro, the glass options come in unique textures, particularly the Tahitian Gray and Rococo White.

Unfolding it greets a 6.94-inch foldable LTPO OLED display that supports 1-120Hz adaptive refresh.

While Huawei hasn’t officially confirmed the Pocket 2’s chipset, reports suggest it uses the Kirin 9000S. It comes with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage, expandable via Huawei’s proprietary NM card.

The device is reportedly limited to 4G connectivity. On the bright side though, it supports two-way satellite messaging through the Chinese GPS system, Beidou.

For enhanced durability, the phone employs aerospace-grade materials along with second-generation Kunlun glass. It also boasts an IPX8 rating for water and dust resistance.

The Pocket 2 runs HarmonyOS 4.0 out of the box and packs a 4250mAh battery with support for 66W wired- and 40W wireless charging.
