Following the expansion of Galaxy AI to older Galaxy flagship smartphones, Samsung will soon bring these AI-powered features to its next Galaxy Watch lineup later this year.
This update sees a combination of on-device AI processing along with the Samsung Health app. “Samsung is on the path to building some of the most personalized and secure health experiences yet,” the company said in an official newsletter.
Here are some of the key highlights to expect:
Deeper insights, personalized coaching
Moving beyond basic step tracking, the new Galaxy Watch with Galaxy AI will provide a holistic understanding of well-being.
Features like Energy Score analyze various metrics, including sleep patterns, activity levels, and heart rate variability, to provide a daily snapshot of the user’s overall readiness.
Additionally, Wellness Tips utilize AI to offer personalized guidance and motivation tailored to individual health goals.
Enhanced sleep tracking
The Galaxy Watch’s sleep tracking receives a significant upgrade. With Galaxy AI, it offers a more comprehensive analysis with new sleep indicators. Users will gain insights into movement during sleep, sleep latency, heart rate, and respiratory rate, alongside existing metrics like snoring and blood oxygen levels.
Smarter fitness tracking
The Galaxy Watch with Galaxy AI caters to fitness enthusiasts as well. New features like Aerobic Threshold (AT) / Anaerobic Threshold (AnT) Heart Rate Zones are designed to help runners optimize their training.
Cyclists can benefit from Functional Threshold Power (FTP) calculations, while Workout Routine allows for the creation of personalized workouts with seamless transitions between exercises.
For an extra push, Race Mode lets users compare their current performance on familiar routes to past runs or cycles.
Availability later this year; beta program set on June
These new features will debut later this year with One UI 6 Watch on the upcoming Galaxy Watch lineup.
A limited beta program kicks off in June for select Galaxy Watch users. This implies that older Galaxy Watch models may receive Galaxy AI later down the line.
This is the same treatment with the Galaxy S24 Series being the priority for Galaxy AI, then later trickled down to older Galaxy flagship phones.
