Intel has introduced its Core Ultra 200V (Series 2) of mobile processors, a.k.a. Lunar Lake 13.
Intel claims that the Core Ultra 200V will challenge the notion that x86 architecture cannot compete with ARM-based chips — such as Qualcomm Snapdragon X Series chipsets — in terms of efficiency.
The Core Ultra 200V series features eight CPU cores, a combination of high-performance Lion Cove and efficiency-focused Skymont cores. To further improve power efficiency, Intel has opted to remove Hyper-Threading from this generation.
Additionally, the series incorporates LPDDR5X memory directly integrated into the SoC package, resulting in faster performance and reduced power consumption.
Intel claims that the Lunar Lake consumes up to 50% less power than last year’s Meteor Lake processors. Moreover, it is said to outperform the Snapdragon X Elite (X1E-80-100) chipset by 1.2x performance per watt.
These efficiency gains translate to impressive battery life (up to 20 hours), surpassing both Snapdragon X Elite and AMD’s HX 370 in certain benchmarks.
Beyond its efficiency improvements, the Core Ultra 200V series also boasts an integrated Xe2 GPU that delivers significant performance gains over previous generations and competitors.
On top of all these, it has an advanced NPU capable of competitive AI performance, even outperforming Snapdragon X Elite according to some benchmarks from Intel.
Naturally, Lunar Lake will adopt Copilot+ PC features. Keeping up with the latest wireless technologies, the Core Ultra 200V series supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Intel is expected to start accepting pre-orders for the Core Ultra 200V series on September 24th. Check out Intel’s website for the full technical specs.
