The HMD Fusion was announced at MWC despite well hidden design patent knowledge from IPOs.
The images reveal a case suggesting support for MagSafe charging, and might even support controls for gaming. The case also seems to have a kickstand, a bulge on the rear, and a case with an infrared scanner (possibly for industrial uses).
HMD Fusion is centered on what the company calls as ‘smart outfits’, which can be designed for a range of functions. It’s inclusive of a toolkit for developers to design the outfits.
The cases give netizens an idea of how the camera will appear on the phone, with similarities not too far removed from the Nokia XR21. It will allegedly have a twin camera design, with the wording mentioning a 108MP AI dual-camera setup.
According to this report 10, the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) was visited with the intent to discover more about the HMD Fusion design patents with no avail.
The company is keeping this a well-hidden secret, and is using the tagline ‘you don’t know what we’re doing this summer’ to drive further interest.
However, we’re sure that it’s a device offering a lot of creativity in case design and repairability with the developer kit. We’ll let you know if there’s any developments to this story in the future.
