Polestar, the electric vehicle offshoot of Volvo, has unveiled a new smartphone called the Polestar Phone. Currently only available in China. At first glance the device similarly look like the Meizu 21.
While the phone’s design may be largely borrowed from Meizu, Polestar claims it was “jointly designed” by their global design team and the Xingji Meizu team in Gothenburg, Sweden. The device features Swedish gold accents meant to symbolize “high performance.”
Under the hood, the Polestar Phone packs flagship-level specs, including a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage.
Priced at around $1,000PHP 58,686INR 84,750EUR 952CNY 7,278 (7,388 yuan / ~PHP 58k+), the Polestar Phone does offer some integration with the company’s EVs, allowing users to view their phone’s home screen on the car’s display. However, full digital key functionality is not available at launch.
Interestingly, the phone’s presence on the Google Play Developer Console suggests Polestar may have plans to sell the device outside of China in the future. For now, the Polestar Phone remains an unexpected and somewhat puzzling addition to the company’s product lineup.
