The upper-mid range just got a whole lot more intense with the arrival of two new camera-centric contenders: the vivo V30 Pro 5G and the OPPO Reno11 Pro 5G! Clocking in at around Php32K mark, these feature-packed phones go toe-to-toe with the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset under the hood. But with seemingly identical starting points, which phone offers that extra edge to make it stand out from the crowd?
Here’s the thing: while they share the same processor, the V30 Pro and Reno11 Pro 5G might surprise you with their distinct approaches. As a spoiler, the V30 Pro packs a ZEISS triple rear camera system. But the Reno11 Pro comes at a relatively lower cost.
Delving deeper into this comparison, we’ll uncover their strengths (and weaknesses) across key areas like camera performance, display quality, and battery life. So, without further ado, let’s dive in!
Table of Contents
From the get-go, both the V30 Pro and the Reno11 Pro look like they’re going for a similar vibe. Left-aligned camera bumps? Check. Subdued yet premium-looking colors? Check. Frames with smooth curves and edges? Check and check. So, aside from looking sophisticated, expect them to be absolutely comfortable in the hands.
Both phones also come in unique textured finishes: Pearl White for the Reno11 Pro and Petals White for the V30 Pro.
A key difference of course, is the design of their cameras. While the Reno11 Pro opts for an oval shape camera island, the V30 Pro comes with squares. And what’s interesting about this design is the larger fill light, or the so-called Aura Light 3.0, right under the camera lenses.
This is honestly quite an improvement from the V29 Series because of its significantly larger size. Which means it can illuminate stronger on your night portraits. On top of that, it now has a “ZEISS” moniker, but we’ll talk about this more later in this article.
Design-wise, both the V30 Pro and Reno11 Pro capture my taste and are surely great looking devices.
Now, onto the display, we see a notable gap between the two. The Reno11 Pro has a 6.7-inch Full HD+ (2412 x 1080 pixels) curved OLED screen. The V30 Pro, on the other hand, boasts a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display with a much higher resolution of 1.5K (2800 x 1260 pixels).
Further enhancing the display’s quality, the V30 Pro boasts a peak brightness of a whopping 2,800 nits. This makes it significantly more visible under direct sunlight compared compared to the Reno11 Pro’s 950 nits.
One caveat though, viewing experience might be a bit underwhelming on both devices. Given their price point around Php30,000USD 511INR 43,338EUR 487CNY 3,723, one might expect these phones to have dual-stereo speakers. But they don’t, as they only use a single downward-firing loudspeakers.
While they deliver decent volume and clarity, pairing them with wireless headphones or earbuds is a must for a more immersive viewing experience. This also implies the absence of 3.5 mm headphone jack in both phones, which is pretty normal, so no big deal.
As for screen protection, only Oppo has bothered to mention that it uses Asahi Glass on the Reno11 Pro. Though, for the most part, vivo clearly excels in the display department.
Expect both the V30 Pro and Reno11 Pro to perform on par with each other when it comes to processing. Like I said earlier, powering both phones is the same Dimensity 8200 chipset, which feels like a near-flagship contender already.
For starters, the Dimensity 8200 is a 4-nanometer class chipset by MediaTek and its most powerful cores can reach over 3.0 GHz clock speed.
Setting the technicalities aside, naturally both phones will perform well on your day-to-day tasks especially gaming. Running graphically intensive titles like Genshin Impact won’t break a sweat on both phones, let alone less demanding ones like Asphalt 9 or Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
Perhaps, it boils down to the core optimizations that their respective operating systems has put in place. In fact, we found some nuances in performance between the two with our benchmark results below:
Benchmark | vivo V30 Pro 5G | OPPO Reno11 Pro 5G |
---|---|---|
AnTuTu V10 | 969,754 | 898,592 |
AnTuTu Storage | 80,277 | 82,559 |
S. Read Speed | 1976.3 MB/s | 1972.3 MB/s |
S. Write Speed | 1841.3 MB/s | 1906.0 MB/s |
3DMark Wild Life | 6,777 | 6,312 |
Geekbench 6 CPU (Single Core) | 1219 | 1,071 |
Geekbench 6 CPU (Multi Core) | 3910 | 3,239 |
Geekbench 6 GPU (OpenCL) | 4,542 | 3,974 |
Geekbench 6 GPU (Vulkan) | 4,343 | 4,790 |
On AnTuTu V10, the vivo V30 Pro got a higher score at over 960K as compared to the 890K on the OPPO Reno11 Pro. The former also got higher in other tests such as 3DMark and Geekbench 6 CPU tests. The latter however, got higher scores on Vulkan and AnTuTu Storage tests.
I find this weird since both phones also utilize the same RAM and storage technologies: 12GB LPDDR5x on board RAM and 512 UFS 3.1 storage. Both phones even have up to 12GB extended RAM, totaling to a whopping 24GB.
Of course, the slight benchmark disparities shouldn’t necessarily make the V30 Pro more powerful than the Reno11 Pro. Though, one thing’s for sure: real-world use will likely feel very similar on both models.
Moving on to the crowning glory of both the V30 Pro and the Reno11 Pro: their cameras. At the rear, they boast triple camera systems.
The V30 Pro, however, can definitely throw more punches as all of its cameras have 50-megapixel (MP) resolution. The main shooter comes with optical image stabilization (OIS), and both the telephoto and ultrawide support autofocus.
Adding spice to the V30 Pro’s camera capabilities is its collaboration with ZEISS. In fact, this is the first vivo V-Series smartphone co-engineered with ZEISS, which primarily helps in giving your portraits more oomph.
And let’s not forget the Aura Light 3.0 bringing brighter fill light. Just like previous iterations, you can adjust the light from warmer tones to cooler ones. With all the tools included in V30 Pro, this gives you more flexibility in capturing portraits whether day or night.
On the other hand, the Reno11 Pro cameras are a little bit scanty. While it gets a 50MP main with OIS, it is only complemented with an 8MP ultrawide and a 32MP telephoto (with autofocus).
For selfies, the vivo V30 Pro also has a 50MP front camera while the Reno11 Pro is left with 32MP.
Undeniably, the V30 Pro is expected to capture more detailed ultrawide and zoom shots. But that doesn’t take away the fact that the Reno11 Pro can still capture nice images.
In well-lit environments, both phones capture sharp, vibrant photos with near-accurate colors. The V30 Pro produces warmer tones, and with its ZEISS tuning and Aura Light 3.0, portraits are sure to be especially stunning. Dynamic range is also great on both, but the Reno11 Pro struggles a bit in some cases, such as in landscape scenery.
Considering all the camera features they can offer, the V30 Pro just stands out with its all 50-megapixel cameras, the ZEISS collab, and its handy fill light.
The V30 Pro boasts a 5000mAh battery, which the company claims as the slimmest phone with that capacity at a mere 7.45 mm depth. Certainly, it is a commendable feat by vivo. That’s compared to the Reno11 Pro with a hair thicker, 7.59 mm depth, that houses a smaller 4600mAh battery.
The difference in battery size might seem minor on paper, but our video loop test shows a notable gap. Here, the Reno11 Pro lasted a solid 16 hours and 40 minutes, while the V30 Pro pumped out a whopping 21 hours and 40 minutes. This is with a 1080p video playing at 50% brightness, airplane mode engaged, and sound muted – for both phones.
Needing to charge? Both phones come equipped with blazing-fast 80W charging rate, so you shouldn’t be tethered to an outlet for long.
Also, dodging the recent trend of ditching the power adapter (ehem Samsung) both phones come packing their hefty 80W chargers in the box. That means you won’t need to scramble for a separate adapter or shell out extra cash to take advantage of the phone’s fast-charging capabilities.
As their names imply, both phones support 5G capability. No microSD slot here, but since both have 512GB storage, expandable storage isn’t a concern.
Other similar features include Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and an under-display fingerprint sensor. Both the Vivo V30 Pro (Funtouch OS 14) and Reno11 Pro (ColorOS 14) run on Android 14.
Here is where the similarities end. But wait, both phones still have something up their sleeves. The V30 Pro gets an added layer of protection against splashes and dust thanks to its IP54 rating.
Meanwhile, the Reno11 Pro boasts a nifty IR blaster, which is a plus in my book. This lets you conveniently use the phone as a universal remote for supported devices and appliances.
While the IP54 rating is a good feature for durability, I tend to avoid using my phone near water anyway.
Wrapping this up, the vivo V30 Pro 5G is our clear winner in this head-to-head comparison. It boasts a superior display, a more versatile camera system with ZEISS and an improved fill light for all your photography needs. Priced at PHP 34,999USD 596INR 50,560EUR 568CNY 4,343, you really can’t go wrong with the vivo V30 Pro 5G.
But hey, don’t write off the OPPO Reno11 Pro 5G just yet. It holds its ground in terms of design and processing power. However, it stumbles quite a bit in camera performance. On the plus side, it’s a steal at PHP 31,999USD 545INR 46,226EUR 519CNY 3,971 packing a pretty capable camera system for your casual snaps.
Ultimately, the choice comes down to priorities. For shutterbugs, the vivo V30 Pro is the undeniable victor. For those seeking an all-rounded experience at a relatively lower cost, then the OPPO Reno11 Pro is one of your best contenders.
