We’re going to pit two devices against one another to settle a simple question—which device offers the best features at this price range?
Smartphone users look at a lot of factors to account for value-for-money when choosing their next device so we’re going to discuss the entire lot in this comparison article.
This includes a nice, fresh design, a capable and dynamic display and a versatile camera system that can satisfy our appetite for great photos.
Top-tier device manufacturers should consider everything above but also try to go beyond. So, for today, we have the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G versus the newly released Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G.
Both devices provide end users with a great display, cameras, and more. However, we found it interesting to dive deep and see what these phones truly offer for their price range.
To our surprise, we found our fair share of key findings to find out which is deemed fit to be the midrange king. We’ve prepared a solid comparison that discusses what we don’t see on paper.
We’ve recollected our overall experience from both devices for this one. And as always, for reference, we also have a specs table ready below for those interested.
Now then, let’s dive right in and find out who the better midrange device is!

The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G offers a sizable 5,100mAh with up to 67W charging power. Meanwhile, The Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G packs a smaller 4,600mAh battery with 100W of All-Round FastCharge 2.0.
There are two questions posed from the numbers given above. First, which phone can last longer? Second, which device can charge faster?
From our results in PC Mark’s Work 3.0 Battery Test, the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G lasted for 12 hours and 29 minutes. In our standard video loop test, the phone provided us with 19 hours and 41 minutes of full HD movie playback.
These tests were conducted in airplane mode, at 50% brightness, and with muted volume for mixed-use variables.
Based on our review of the Note 13 Pro 5G, charging the device from 0-80% took us 35 minutes. The phone should take around 40-45 minutes to charge from empty to full with fast charging enabled.
For the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G, our review unit lasted for about 10 hours and 58 minutes in PC Mark’s Work 3.0 Battery Test. However, in our video loop test, the phone was able to play the same video for 19 hours and 42 minutes.
These tests were conducted under the same circumstances applied to the Note 13 Pro 5G for mixed-use variables. We’ve inferred that even though Redmi provided their device with a higher battery capacity, Infinix built theirs with longevity.
Both phones had roughly the same video loop test result with just a minute in between them, while PCMark’s variable-condition battery test showed the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G got a 31-minute margin. This is not surprising since there’s a 500mAh difference in battery capacity between the two.
In that regard, we’ll explain where the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G truly shines. In our internal testing with fast charging enabled, the phone only needed 25 minutes to go from 0 to 90% when charging. By the 30-minute mark, the phone’s battery was already 100% and ready to go.
The key to this device’s charging capability is its new Cheetah X1 battery management chip. This chip ensures smart charging regulation with various capabilities.
The phone offers end users 20W wireless magnetic charging, Bypass Charging, AI Charging Protection, PD 3.0, and Reverse OTG Charging. This phone is unparalleled as a power-efficient pioneer.
The device also provides accessories to enhance wireless charging, such as their MagPad. Infinix manufacturers provide consumers with value from their midrange devices, and even go beyond.
While the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G provides good initial numbers in comparison to the NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G, this category falls to Infinix’s favor.
It’s rare for a midrange device to provide end users with so much flexibility for battery and charging features. However, Infinix managed to find a great balance to power and performance working together even under its price range.
If readers found this segment discussing the Infinix’s power efficiency interesting, we also have a separate article for this here.
For design, the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G has a traditional bar-type smartphone feel with a flat design and round corners. Build-wise, it sports an aluminum frame and a glass back panel.
My gripes with the build come with how prone the display and back panel is to fingerprints and smudges.
The phone certainly feels sturdy, and won’t bend easily. Additionally, it’s also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, while also having an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.
Overall, it has a minimal design that speaks through its camera module that sticks out.
Moving on, the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G boasts a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The bezels are also quite a nice touch, making for an immersive viewing experience from our end.
The screen’s color reproduction is well-balanced, and complemented by good contrast. Also, because it’s an AMOLED panel, it’s fairly bright even outdoors peaking at 1,800 nits.
Consensus? The Note 13 Pro 5G surely provides end users with an impressive display. We also acknowledge that Redmi set a new standard by incorporating a 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED screen for midrange devices.
So, how will the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G fare against this?
For starters, the phone is relatively thin and lightweight in comparison to modern smartphones. It came as a surprise when the NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G felt well-built and durable.
Speaking of durability, this phone is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and has an IP54 rating too.
Our review model came in Vintage Green, which had a vegan leather back panel.
This is highly appreciated, as it provides a premium feel that should not be under this price range. Besides that, it also makes for smudge-resistant material for your device.
Speaking of the back panel, the top half has a lot of focus on the device’s camera module. I’m a fan of phones with minimal design, hence smaller camera islands. So, it’s a subjective take.
Up at the front, the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G sports a 6.78-inch curved FHD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It’s also good outdoors with 1,300 nits of peak brightness.
I’ll be frank: the NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G’s screen is very captivating. It produces vivid colors, has thin bezels, all complemented by the curved panel. While it has similar numbers to the Note 13 Pro 5G, it certainly doesn’t feel the same.
Under both design and display, my money is going to be on Infinix. It provides end users with great clarity and quality at a modest price.
I’m sure most netizens are keen on reading through this part, so we’ll get the initial specs sorted out first.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G has triple-rear cameras, headlined by a 200MP main shooter with OIS. This is supported by an 8MP ultrawide sensor and 2MP macro lens.
This phone also is equipped with a 16MP selfie shooter situated in a punch hole. For video capabilities, the Note 13 Pro 5G can shoot 1080p at 30 or 60fps from both rear and front cameras.
Redmi raised the bar with its high-end camera system, which is hard to come by with devices sold at this price point.
As for Infinix, their device sports a triple-camera setup led by a 108MP main shooter with OIS. The sensor is followed by a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor.
The NOTE 40 Pro+ is also equipped with a 32MP front-facing camera. For video recording, this phone can shoot clips in 2K@30fps and 1080p@30 and 60fps with the main cameras.
With the front camera, the phone can only shoot up to 720p at 30fps.
On paper, we’d probably assume that Redmi has the better main camera while Infinix leads with selfies. But actually, there’s more to these numbers than meets the eye.
Instead of focusing on higher resolutions, Infinix invested in providing end users with quality OIS. This is more practical, and widely acknowledged by users in today’s day and age.
Again, more megapixels won’t always equate to higher-quality photos.
Infinix utilizes an advanced in-sensor lossless zoom technology, leveraging the sensor’s resolution to deliver great shots even at 3X distance.
Additionally, shots taken can be fixed in post-processing thanks to Infinix’s AI portrait enhancer. The added detail and color aren’t too aggressive and make for exceptional shots.
And please, take our word for it! We’ll leave some sample shots from both devices below for you to judge.
We won’t take anything away from the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G. After all, it’s surely established itself as a benchmark for the modern midrange smartphone market.
The phone offers a minimal design, decent battery, and an impressive offering for its display and cameras. However, the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ took these and went further with their own personal touches.
Infinix focused on purely essential features, understanding consumers and what they need the most. They found a highly appreciated balance for price range and user experience.
Their newly-released device offers strengths in battery capacity, fast charging, premium design elements, an immersive display, and practical camera features. Our experience with the device wasn’t overwhelming with hard-to-digest features, either.
The Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G presents itself well with thoughtful features and evident value-for-money, and should be dubbed the midrange king.
