The Apple Vision Pro has just been released in the United States, which is one of Apple’s most ambitious products to date.
Apple CEO Tim Cook noted that “The Apple Vision Pro is the most advanced consumer electronics device ever created. Its revolutionary and magical user interface will redefine how we connect, create, and explore”.
The Apple Vision Pro features a high-resolution micro-OLED display system comprising two displays. Apple reiterated that this equates to more than a 4K TV for each eye or around 23 million pixels across both displays.
Apple mentioned that the Vision Pro’s built-in earbuds also support specs like Dolby Atmos and lossless audio. The earbuds also leverage ‘audio ray tracing’ to analyze the acoustic properties of the surroundings to optimize sound.
It will run on Apple’s first spatial operating system, called visionOS, and will be powered by custom Apple silicon with a dual-chip design.
The Vision Pro also has a custom 3D lens that ensures that the UI always remains in view. The headset also has additional features like HDR and ‘wide color’ deliver superb images into a user’s field of view.
Upon launch, the Vision Pro App Store is set to feature over a million compatible iOS apps and over 600 optimized for the headset.
To our surprise however, it should be noted that major companies such as Spotify, Netflix, and YouTube have not opted not to roll out a new app for Apple’s new product because of conflict with the new Digital Markets Act (DMA) 18.
We’ve yet to see if this would impact users and their media consumption experience. However, we do have a list of other established applications supporting Apple’s product release with their services:
The Apple Vision Pro is priced at either $291.58 per month or $3,499 (around PHP 196,775) in the United States. We’ll be sure to keep you guys updated with further developments concerning international releases.
