It has been the norm that home appliances such as washing machine and dryers are all holed up at the back corners of the house, away from visitor’s eyes due to their messy and cluttered order.
All that should now change with the LG Objet Collection Designer Appliances. We’ve had the LG OLED TV Objet Collection for several months now and it has changed the way it interacts with the living room.
Now, we’ve got a new one in the Objet Collection — the LG Washtower, a 2-in-1 washer and dryer that not only looks good but also gets the job done easily.
The modern design of the LG WashTower brings in several elements that contribute to both its aesthetic appeal and functional advantages.

Design and Construction
The LG Washtower has a sleek, minimalist aesthetics that features clean, straight lines and a streamlined silhouette, giving it a contemporary look that blends seamlessly with modern interiors. This will still look good even if you prominently place this unit inside our house.
Unlike traditional stacked washer-dryer units, the WashTower is designed as a single unified unit, providing a more integrated and polished appearance. The design minimizes visible hinges and places controls centrally, reducing clutter and enhancing the sleek look.
The vertical design maximizes the use of space, which is particularly valuable in smaller homes or apartments. This compact form factor contributes to a neat and organized look in the laundry area.
The use of premium materials, such as stainless steel for the drum and robust exterior finishes, enhances both the look and durability of the unit. Some finishes are designed to resist fingerprints and smudges, keeping the unit looking clean and new with minimal maintenance.
Features like soft-closing doors add to the premium feel and prevent slamming, contributing to a quieter operation and longer-lasting components. LED lighting inside the drum illuminates the interior, making it easier to see and retrieve clothes, while also adding a touch of elegance.
It is available in various finishes, including classic white and black stainless steel, allowing it to match different decor styles and preferences.
Control Panel and User Interface
The control panel is located between the washer and dryer, making it easily accessible without having to reach high or bend low. This design choice not only enhances usability but also maintains the unit’s clean lines.
Many models feature a modern touch-sensitive control panel with an intuitive layout, adding to the unit’s sophisticated appearance.
The use of LED displays and indicators not only improves functionality by providing clear, at-a-glance information about the cycle status but also adds to the high-tech feel of the appliance.
To add more features and functionality, you can actually connect the Washtower to your home WiFi network and control it remotely from your smartphone or monitor the operation from other LG home appliances like the LG Objet OLED TV.
Connectivity and AI
AI DD (Artificial Intelligence Direct Drive)
Load Sensing: The AI DD technology detects the weight and fabric softness of the laundry load. It then adjusts the washing motions accordingly to provide optimal washing performance while protecting fabrics.
Customized Wash Cycles: By analyzing the types of clothes in the drum, AI DD selects the best wash motions (e.g., gentle, powerful, or a combination) to ensure thorough cleaning and reduced wear and tear on fabrics.
Washer-Dryer Coordination: The AI in the washer communicates with the dryer to suggest the best drying cycle based on the wash cycle used. This ensures that clothes are dried efficiently and gently, matching the wash care provided.
TurboWash 360°
Intelligent Water and Time Management: This feature uses AI to optimize water usage and wash time. It uses powerful jets to clean clothes faster and more efficiently, reducing wash time without compromising on cleanliness.
Maintenance Alerts: AI technology monitors the appliance’s performance and usage patterns to provide maintenance alerts and tips. This helps in preventing potential issues before they become serious problems.
Diagnostic Capabilities: In case of a malfunction, the AI can assist in diagnosing the issue and suggest possible solutions, potentially reducing the need for service calls.
AI Sensor Dry
The Dryer also comes with a bunch of smart features that will help you get things done faster and more efficiently.
Optimized Drying Cycles: In the dryer, AI sensors detect the moisture level and load size, adjusting the drying time and temperature to ensure clothes are dried efficiently without over-drying, which can save energy and protect fabrics.
We tested a round of washed clothes (about 4kg) and used the Quick Dry settings. The Dryer initially set the timer to around 1 hour and 38 minutes, but adjusted it to a lower time as it move along, making the actual drying time to just 34 minutes. Once we took out the clothes, we checked on one of the jeans and it was completely dry. Pretty good timing!
Energy Efficiency: By tailoring the drying cycle to the specific needs of each load, the AI helps in reducing energy consumption.
Smart Learning:
User Preferences: Over time, the AI system learns from the user’s laundry habits and preferences, optimizing cycles for frequently washed items and preferred settings. This personalized approach enhances convenience and user satisfaction.
LG ThinQ App Integration
Remote Control and Monitoring: Using the LG ThinQ app, users can remotely start or stop laundry cycles, receive notifications about cycle completion, and monitor energy usage.
Voice Control: The app can integrate with voice assistants like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, allowing users to control the WashTower using voice commands.
Cycle Recommendations: Based on the load and fabric type, the app can recommend the best wash and dry cycles, leveraging AI to improve laundry care.
These AI features make the LG WashTower not only smarter and more efficient but also easier to use, providing a superior laundry experience that adapts to the needs of the user and their clothing.
Load and Capacity
The washer can handle up to 14kg of laundry while the dryer can accommodate up to 10kg of clothes. You can operate them individually or at the same time so while you’re on your 2nd load of washing, the drying is finishing off the 1st load.
With this high capacity load, the LG Washtower can easily manage the laundry needs of a typical Filipino family of 5 with just twice a week routine.
The Washer typically consumes 2100W per hour while the Dryer consumes about 1400W per hour. If you do 2 rounds of wash/dry per week at 1 hour each, thats about Php42 per wash/dry cycle or about Php336 per month in electricity cost.
So far, since we replaced our old washing machine and dryer combo with the one from LG, we have not noticed any significant difference in electricity consumption (although we were somewhat expecting it, to be honest).
Pricing and Conclusion
What can we say? We’ll leave it to LG to make some of the most beautiful, elegant yet functional home appliances to date. Our LG Washtower was installed in the front garage and has been a conversation piece on many occasions. Just like the LG OLED TV Objet Collection, we’re impressed with how LG positioned itself and carved a niche with an appliance line-up that any home owner would desire to have.
The LG Washtower from the Objet Collection has a suggested retail price of Php 149,995 but is being offered in retail stores like Ansons as well as Lazada for a discounted price of Php 127,496.
