Over at Google IO, the company talks about their affordable yet powerful streaming device called the Chromecast, and Google brags that it is indeed doing good so far and is picking up.
From here, Google will make finding apps optimized for Chromecast much easier for you. They also announced backdrop, so that you will still have content on your screen in a way even when it is on standby. On top of everything else, mirroring content, even the camera app, is now possible from your Android device.
We already have a hands-on of the Google Chromecast here, if you want to check it out.
I got a Chromecast via a relative from the US a month ago (on sale for $29 at Amazon).
While it is disappointing that sites like Netflix and Hulu are unavailable here (officially), I like it that the number of apps that allow you to “cast” is increasing everyday. E.g. the app “FilmOn TUFF” also allows for a number of videos to be available. Also I hear that VLC will be compatible with Chromecast soon.

I would buy it if it was supported and was available here in the Philippines.
