Been reading about the so-called lightning fast Google search indexes lately but never really encountered one myself. Google Search Quality Team lead Matt Cutts also discussed how they’ve dramatically improved on the incremental search indexing front and even documented a search index for just under an hour.
Now, here’s one for the record — 16 minutes from publishing to getting indexed.
I wrote an entry earlier this morning about Apple iLife and Google AdSense. I did a search query for the exact title of the post just now and it showed me this:
I am using a Time Since plugin so the page does not show when it was published but how long it has been published from the time you view it.
The screenshot from the search index shows “posted: 16 minutes ago“. So far, that the fastest record from time of publishing to indexing by Google.

My post about boxing was indexed by Google in 20 minutes! My fastest post ever to be included in SERP! And to think that this blog is just a few days old! screenshot: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n105/linusoft/serp.jpg

Yup, I don’t think it’s something extraordinary. I tried this just now. I made this post only a few minutes ago:
http://www.pinoymoneytalk.com/2007/08/25/funny-pic-lamp-that-sticks-out/
Then I searched in Google if the article has already been spidered. It was — within 4 minutes after I published the blog post.
Screenshot HERE.

Ernesto. Been to your site. It looks like a porn site. Maybe that’s why.
BrianB says:
I’ve been indexed faster.

I believe I saw that Brendon Sinclair had a post show up in 11 minutes recently. I frequently see mine within an hour, never really looked to see the actual time … it’s quick, that’s for sure.
As to why people don’t show up in Google? It’s clearly no secret that Google loves blogs and even searches them differently …and it costs nothing to put a blog on your site … connect the dots, eh?
@>> Herzon; “that’s too fast”? Is that like being too rich or too good looking?
Hezron says:
Google Bot might have indexing your site on the time that you’ve posted that post that’s why Google have indexed the post fast. I think that’s the reason why GOOGLE seems to slow to index other posts because of that little chances. Anyway that’s too fast!
Ernesto says:
But my blog is still not listed on google why?????
SELaplana says:
since last week I was already experiencing that. I post a post then after a minute the post was already on the search result.
however, that’s not always the case.
Aja Lapus says:
I actually saw Google producing fast indexes somehow a long time ago, but just on the separate “Blog Search.” Since the basic Google search engine is way more utilized by people, I think this would be better. :)
