Looks like Samsung is bringing in their co-branded Google Nexus S to the Philippines this quarter, according to a reliable source that sent us a tip. The indicative price — about Php28,500. Not bad, eh?
Samsung’s target delivery date is between March and April of 2011 but I’m hoping it will be as early as this month.
Google Nexus S
4.0″ Super AMOLED @ 480×800 pixels
1GHz Cortex A8 (Hummingbird) processor
16GB iNAND flash memory
512MB RAM
HSDPA (7.2Mbps) HSUPA (5.76Mbps)
WiFi 802.11 n/b/g
Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
Near Field Communication (NFC)
Assisted GPS (A-GPS)
microUSB 2.0
5 megapixels camera
720 x 480 video resolution
LED Flash
1500 mAH Lithum Ion
Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
The Google Nexus S has been selling in the grey market for some time now and units have been spotted in GreenHills as early as January with a street price of Php35,000. The Php28,500 SRP sure makes it a good deal.

maGadget says:
i saw a unit in greenhills this weekend. cheaper sya than the 28k projected price.
Ernest says:
Less than 28k at Greenhills? Is it brand new or does it have any warranty to back it up? I’m looking at this phone to replace my stolen Nexus One.
igs says:
May store na ba that sells it at around 28K?

Bopols naman ‘to! ngreply cya sa sarili nya?
allan says:
this is a good phone. if it sells around 28k this march, i might but it.
if we continue to wait for the next best thing, we might end up not buying anything at all.
let’s say i wait for the SE, the motorolla, or LG, even another samsung. then, on the month they release it here, they announced that another better phone will be introduce a month after.
better enjoy the best phone right now. rather than keep on waiting.
just my 2 cents worth. :-)

its a good phone. moreover, i just got the OTA to 2.3.3. no complains so far. both my nexus s and nexus one are on the latest gingerbread version. good deal considering all other handsets that do not run stock android are just having a taste of froyo. if you are not into waiting for the OS updates to roll along, this is the handset to get.

raymond says:
Ok back to the topic. Google Nexus S.
D Real Jhay says:
This would be the last time I’ll address this issue.
Nakakahiya na kay Sir Abe.
@The Four-eyed Julius: Email me, mag-usap tayo.
@fr0stbyte: I agree and I’m taking your advice. Again, apologies for all the troubles.
fr0stbyte says:
‘Wag nang magpadala sa trolls. Kung impostor lang ‘yung gumamit ng pangalan niya, so be it. We can’t really know for sure can we? But yeah.. We should stop the non-sense hating and flaming. Peace.
P.S. Take note, every now and then may mga impostor talaga dito every now and then.. Like last year, ginamit name ni GMtristan dito.

Bakit anu ba nagawa mo for the school?
Ako ang schoolmate mo at hindi ako ang impostor Jhay.
And besides you are still so effin stupid to let someone use your name.
Proudpinoy says:
Si Jhay ba talaga yan?
Operation Super says:
I would have blocked those people if this is my blog. You guys cheapen the site.

raymund says:
Wow, the comments are not related, they’re fighting here. Going to the real topic, I think Google Nexus is worth trying considering that Google is a leader in the industry.
Jhay says:

It’s definitely not worth getting especially when the LG Optimus 2X will soon be released in the Philippines. Expect to see a price less than 30K.
jayjay says:
@Jhay, be nice naman, akala mo ang galing galing mo!!!Palibhasa PANGET KA!!!!,
irv says:
the fact that this handset will always get the latest Android updates (from Google nonetheless), makes this a done deal in my book.
SE, Samsung and LG has yet to prove that they can deliver in terms of timely software updates.
Only HTC has impressed me so far, when they announced that even the moldy-oldy Desire will get a Gingerbread update.
Jonaflormicfren says:
Samsung is making a record. http://iloveyou-mydear.blogspot.com/2011/02/what-matters-most-relation-or.html
Operation Super says:
This is probably the best Samsung phone out there in terms of getting OS updates, flagships get it first from what I read.
Dual core phones are stupid. Do you really need it to SMS jejemon and TwitPic what the hell you are eating even though nobody cares?
JunAlquis says:
simple: kung kulang sa budget kunin nyo to kung hindi eh di mag dual core phones. kung wala talaga budget why still read here? this articles are for smart phones which are expensive.
John says:
IMO, you’ll just be wasting money. wait for the Galaxy S2!
Ethan Tremblay says:
I’ll pass…waiting for a honeycomb base handset.. =))
Earl says:
Samsung Galaxy s2 still for me^^
Fromaggie says:
Doesn’t look enticing at all, Any idea about the availability of the HTC Incredible S here in the Philippines?
kevin says:
I mean the S2
kevin says:
Samsung’s own Galaxy S is much more spec’d than this one because of its 1 gb RAM, you can install many android apps to your heart’s content. Plus it is dual core to boot.
heckiboi says:
If the SRP is within P21-23K then I’ll get one : )
wilde says:
I’ll pass.
It aint hardcore if it aint dual core. :)
Moreover, no SD card slot?
Herce says:
Dual core or bust!
Geoff says:
I’d rather wait SE Xperia Arc or LG optimus 3D
cosmic says:
Next please.
GadgetsPH says:
Wow… ang mahal pa rin!
Willy Yu says:
nice, it will came soon as it has no match with the newer models like LG 2x, Samsung S2. which might also priced at same level. lets wait & see.
Mark says:
With all the dual core phones previewed and almost out, why would you want to get this one?
The only real upside to getting this is it would most probably get all the OS updates continuously until they come up with a 3rd gen nexus (and even some time after that).
getalife says:
have to wait first for SE arc, LG black, Samsung Galaxy SL to arrive here in the phils
Jam. says:
Nah.
Sabana says:
But the question still remains….
Is it worth getting?
moonman says:
if only i had 28k lying around the house
Alexei Rivera says:
Great news for people who’d rather not have Samsung’s laggier TouchWiz and even laggier software update schedules, but would absolutely die for a Super AMOLED device.
