Google posts new Job Openings for Manila Office

When Google officially announced the opening of their Manila office, we saw a lot of buzz and thousands of people started looking for job opportunities with the company. Last week, they finally posted some job openings.

While the good news is that new positions are now available, the bad news is all of them are sales related that’s it’s all in just one department (Sales) and no other openings like in Search, Programming or Products (devices).

One new role was posted 3 days ago and labeled as Vendor Operations Lead (under Sales Operation) and they’re also looking for Vendor Operations Quality Manager (which is under Sales & Account Management).

Both roles require heavy sales background and a deep understanding of Google Adwords platform. This verifies our earlier story about what to expect from Google Philippines.

  1. Why is it a bad news that the opening, so far, is only sales related?

    • because not all job-seekers are looking for sales-related jobs. siguradong marami nang nagreact ng “ay sayang, sa sales palang ang opening.”

    • To 10:05 post:

So bad news na porket not all jobseekers are looking for sales related jobs? What if Google Manila would open programming related positions? Bad news din dapat yun kasi ‘not all jobseekers are programers’, too.

    • It is bad news because there are no openings for job positions other than sales, so there’s no opportunity for people not in sales to get in…yet. Yes it would be bad news if programmers are the only positions open for the same reason i stated. It’s about the chances of more people being able to work at Google Manila and not because sales is an ‘unworthy’ job.

  2. it was said, google will be opening retail stores…

    baka yan na ang simula….

(pero it was said, sa US daw muna…)

  3. “the bad news is all of them are sales related”

this is not bad news. why do some people look down on sales. If there are no sales people doing the leg work, then there will be no income generated for the other jobs that you are waiting for…

    • EXACTLY!

It seems like the blogger puts sales people to the bottom class of the workforce.

    • Apologies if there was a miscommunication. What meant in that sentence is that no other departments have available openings. I will rephrase it to be more clear.

Btw, my day job right now is also in Sales.

    • Dude! No other opening but sales. Yun lang yun. Wag mo na lagyan ng drama pa.

Hindi lahat ng tao magaling sa sales talk.

And i clearly did not see any implication that the article placed people who do sales in bottom of the workforce.

    • I swear reading comprehension is at a decline in the Philippines….It is bad news because there are no openings for job positions other than sales, so there’s no opportunity for people not in sales to get in…yet. It’s about the chances of more people being able to work at Google Manila and not because sales is an ‘unworthy’ job.

    • Hay nako, mga critique nanaman ni yuga. Halata na kayo bawat post. Sa dulo kayo naman ang mali din sa reklamo, sana naman MAKA-INTINDI muna kayo ng sentence construction bago kayo mangreklamo.

Sheez, umiiral kasi galit bago utak eh.

  4. where there is sales there must be Human Resources.
any news on that sir? thanks!

  5. this must be related to the the recent news that google is opening a string of retail stores.

  6. You guys are too much with the whole news.

Why are you making it negative. The bad news about the situation is that there’s no other job opening except sales. “Sana meron pang ibang opening para marami pa magka-work.” That’s how i understand the statement.

    Eomtional lang ng mga iba.

    “Just Saying.”

That’s what the statement means to me.

  8. more of sales pala ang office nila dito at hindi development?

  9. im from a sales account callcenter and was looking to try this out but not sure with how much their wage for their employees and the benefits. Is it worth it to transfer from a 5-year working experience in a call center to Google Philippines? Need to think more about this first

  10. I am sure that the budget for this acquisition is bigger than what call center offers. So if you think you have a chance,. go for it..

    goodluck on that..
