So what’s the big deal with Google selling ads by CPM (cost per thousand)? Well, it’s a whole new ball game altogether. See, it used to be selling ads on a “per click” basis so the more number of ad-clicks you get, the bigger your ad revenue. With CPM, you don’t need your readers to click on the ads, it only has to be viewed (or loaded on the page). Thus, the more pageviews your site generates, the higher the ad impressions, the higher the potential ad revenue.
Ad relevance will still be the determiningfactor if an ad will show up on the page or not. However, advertisers have the option to choose which sites their ads will appear, that is if they like your site. Now, that’s another big IF.
