Finding the right music for your videos is hard. As a video editor, it’s also one of my dilemmas when it comes to editing. Music binds all of your footage together, so it’s crucial to find the right one. Think of it as finding your ideal partner. If it doesn’t tick all the boxes, then it just feels meh. But the adage goes, you can’t have it all, and good things in life don’t come for free, especially when it comes to A+ music.
So if you’re looking for sites on where to download copyright-free music for your YouTube videos or any other multimedia projects, here are some recommendations.
Incompetech is one of the OG providers of free royalty-free music, all thanks to American Composer Kevin MacLeod who composed over 2K+ pieces that we can use for free. Its site has been redesigned now, and you can search for music based on mood, length, speed, key, and genre. Attribution is required here, so be sure to put credit if you’re uploading your video on YouTube or any platform.
Bensound offers a vast collection of free royalty-free music. You can use Bensound’s music under the Free License in your multimedia project (online videos, websites, animations, etc.) for free as long as you credit Bensound.com.
FSM lets you search for free royalty-free music depending on the mood, tempo, length, and type of license. Just don’t forget to put the attribution in the credits. More info about the attribution can be found on every track’s page.
Aside from offering free royalty-free music, Mixkit also offers free stock video footage and Adobe Premiere Pro templates for your editing projects. All audio clips are royalty-free and can be used with no attribution or sign up required.
Purple Planet, although not so famous, offers a free collection of royalty-free music ideal for YouTube and your media projects. Just be sure to credit them in this format: “Music: https://www.purple-planet.com.”
And there you go. Do you have any other sites that you would like to recommend as well? Share it with us in the comments down below!
