Free Educational Websites For Kids

The government recently suspended classes due to the coronavirus outbreak. However, it does not mean that kids can go on an early summer vacation, as people are ordered to stay at home. This can be challenging for kids who quickly get bored. One of the solutions is to keep them busy by letting them visit online learning websites. Here are some that we can recommend.

Starfall 13

Starfall offers students free lessons on subjects like Math, Language Arts, and Music. For the kindergarten level, there’s Math Songs, ABCs, reading activities, colors, and sing-alongs. Those in Grades 1, 2, and 3 can learn geometry and measurements, classical folk songs, phonics, and more reading activities. Although Starfall offers free lessons, a subscription is required to access the full content.

SplashLearn 15

Math can be a daunting subject for some kids, but that can change with the help of SplashLearn. SplashLearn offers free math lessons for students from Kindergarten to Grade 5. The graphics are pleasing, and the lessons are game-based with rewards so that kids won’t get bored quickly. Parents can also see the overall curriculum as well as reports to see how the child is fairing.

Storyline Online

If your kids like stories, Storyline can provide them with videos featuring actors reading children’s books accompanied by creatively produced illustrations. Readers include Viola Davis, Chris Pine, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Costner, Annette Bening, James Earl Jones, Betty White, and dozens more. Reading aloud to children has been shown to improve reading, writing and communication skills, logical thinking and concentration, and general academic aptitude, as well as inspire a lifelong love of reading.

National Geographic Kids

Want your kid to get lost learning with just about anything under the sun? Have them visit National Geographic Kids. Topics include science, geography, animals, space, trivia, and history. Even the coronavirus is here. Also, there are games, quizzes, and videos. This site has plenty to offer.

E-learning For Kids 10

Another website that offers plenty of lessons is E-learning For Kids, which is suited for students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. The lessons are animated and game-based and feature subjects like Math, Science, Environmental Skills, Computer Skills, and Health. Students are also given virtual certificates after finishing a lesson.

Turtle Diary 11

Turtle Diary focuses on fun online games, videos, experiments, puzzles, coloring sheets, and more. It ranges topics from language, math, and science. There’s even a typing game and multiplayer games. So, if your kid asks to play a game online, bring them here instead.

Science Kids

Although you and your kid are stuck at home, that doesn’t mean that you can’t do SCIENCE. Science Kids got plenty of content all relating to, yep, SCIENCE. It has games, facts, quizzes, projects, lessons, and videos. There are 30 topics to choose from, including animals, biology, chemistry, physics, space, and weather. If you want to take it to the next level, you can go for experiments that use ingredients you can find at home. A perfect opportunity to try that Coke + Mentos eruption!

And that sums it up. If you’re a parent and have a recommendation on learning websites for kids, let us know in the comments below.
