Job hunting is a challenge, especially during these times. Aside from ensuring that you have the skills and experience needed, you’ll need to make a CV, resume, or online portfolio. And to make sure that your application stands out, you’ll need to create something easy to read and visually pleasing. This can be an added stress. Fortunately, there are online tools that you can use to help you with that.
Straight to the point. The Resume Help website, well, helps users build resumes. They have seven category guides: resume, cover letters, interviews, networking, preparation, career tools, and technology guide. The experience of going through Resume Help is like answering a survey where the user would fill in each section. The plus side of using this website is to give you some tips from time to time, like tips on how one should list down their work history, preferred verbs, or the overall format.
VisualCV functionality is quite basic, which is good for this case. Right of the bat, users are greeted with a plethora of templates for resumes and curriculum vitae. Once clicked, it will bring the user to the template for editing. If unsure, the user can then click a set of samples located on the left side—samples with different job positions.
This online tool allows users to write both a resume and a cover letter. The website supports a collaborative feature that allows users to share their documents with friends or workmates for their review and comments. In addition, EnchanCV categorizes its template according to looks such as modern, functional, contemporary or additional—allowing users to select a format they are going for.
If you want to showcase your latest work or the project you are proud of, Behance may be the site for you. Behance is a collaborative online portfolio creating site that allows interaction between the creator and visitor for constructive feedback. Behance is an all-in-one portfolio site that allows users to search and browse good UX/UI jobs posted by trustworthy companies or employers from different corners of the world.
Unlike other platforms, Wozber doesn’t require any registration for the use of its platform. The editor is free of charge and has both resume and cover letter writing functions. Wobzer features resume optimization, which is a Job requirement analysis. Some institutions have an Applicant Tracking System (ATS), which filters applicant resumes to see how well they match the job. Wozber helps users with the ATS and analyzes accordingly with the position and job requirements. Note that a free account has 5 analyses. After that, the user needs to upgrade.
Kickresume offers templates for resumes, CV’s cover letter, and a limited job search functionality. As users sign in, the website greets you with a quick personality survey to provide personalized content to the user’s needs and preferences. Aside from the templates offer, Kickresume provides users with step-by-step guides and career tips gathered by their HR experts. The downside is that their templates heavily rely on graphics. However, they also categorize their templates according to certain jobs.
If users want to create an additional portfolio to support their resume, Kickresume provides a function for website creation.
Canva is flexible in the dimensions of graphic design and even resume creation—though it is not its main point of use. Nonetheless, Canva has its own archive of templates for people to use. However, do note that the template itself is given, no guide, no assistance in the actual creation of your resume or curriculum vitae. But if you need quick ideas of format and theme you can go for, Canva is still a good option.
Update: Canva has a new Website Builder that you can use to create your own resume or online portfolio. Check it out here.
So what are you waiting for? Go and update your resume and curriculum vitae with the list of free websites you can use. It won’t hurt to keep it updated just in case a new opportunity unfolds before you.
